So how often do you really need to suck the front down further or let it out while trail riding???

Running steel cable on my winch right now and really don't have the coin to upgrade to rope at the moment??
so would it be better to just run a center limit on the front or hook up my cable??
not thinking the cable would be too good of an option... not sure it could handle the shock load...

Thanks guys... flashemifyougotem

Personally, I like to have it for the few times going uphill and the front end feels a bit light, just suck it down and it tightens up the bouncing. I have front and rear limiting straps and still use the winch at times. Example- Rev limiter at Mountainside, slow going up but the angle tends to pull the front up on mine. So with the flick of my winch switch it pulls down and all betta. But on hills like Cable hill where momentum is a must, I leave it hang and let er eat. You need that travel at speeds to let the suspension work, just at slow crawls, you want more control. IMO. :driving: thumb.gif

I use my front winch a lot on uphills. I had a center limit also but you can't snug it down when you need it. I removed my center limit because it was not needed with a front suckdown winch. I would put a center limit in the rear and winch in the front

I used mine every ride when i put it on. It makes those steep uphill climbs a breeze. Plus with front coilovers it is a must have as they try to unload on you.

i have a limit strap on front and rear
i use my winch on the front when I'm on some hills but i forget most of the time
i say go for both

my real concern is Can i hook up my winch to my front axle if im still rockin cable???
havent seen this done very much...

I have a topic on here about the same thing. found that rope took the stress much better. it is really up to you. it will work though.

heath's broke right away using cable.
Okay, how about something hybrid. I don't know what yet, but what about a center limit STRAP that is there all the time, but with the winch cable hooked to an eyelet on it somehow. when suckdown is needed the cable pulls on the strap, giving some give that will save the cable from the shock loads. Have to look at space constraints, but I bet it could be done and quick disco'able so you aren't fawking with a clevis all the time.

I was thinking the same thing, or maybe a rope leader attached to the cable :dunno:

What about a small tree saver attached to your axle and then to the winch. It would have to be short but it would help the shock load. I thought the same thing but with all the money that was dumped into my rigs I felt like doing it right. Plus my cable looked like poop.

Thats similar to what I have done, but even went cheaper and used a axle tie down strap from Tractor Supply, only $7.99........ :****:

I did for a few years with a Warn 9500 winch with cable. No problems. Now I have rope.

I never sucked down or had a limit strap on the Turd with Coilovers. Would have been nice to suck down though...

The buggy I use the winch alot, I think its piece of mind as much as anything else. I tend to run it sucked down to often though honestly , because it becomes habit " Bout to hit something, suck it in a little..." I've thought about just putting a center limit strap on it like the rear and only sucking down when I really need to. Hasn't really been much of an issue now that I have a front driveline that will cycle well with the suspension though.

Its nice to have options, stick with sucking it down and un leashing it at the flip of a switch. :dblthumb:

I like having the winch in the front, you can definately control the suspension with it and it helps keep that pucker factor to minimum when you are climbing the steep hills.

Like i've said before.. I'm an advocate of the front suck down winch...
Basically my delima is the lack of winch rope at the moment...

So I believe a hybrid rope/cable is what i'm goin to shoot for.. thumb.gif
