Front locker?

Due to recent broken lockrights, I'm looking into my options for my front D60. What lockers have you had experience with and what was the outcome of it? I think I've heard and seen bad experiences with everything out there. I'm currently welded in the front and that has got to go.

I have heard of more people breaking detroits than lockrites when a shaft lets go.....dunno why, dunno how true it is....all I know is I am welded and it hasnt broke yet, but I cant steer worth a **** on tight trails..
 
I run a Detroit in mine and no troubles as of yet...knock on wood...though it does make an occasional pop or some kind of racket when it unlocks :dunno:
 
Agreed on the Detroit. I am running one as well and have had no problems out of it. :dblthumb: I guess you could run an ARB, the capability of locking and unlocking upon command for steering would be convenient, but a bit more expense out of pocket. thumb.gif
 
i'm running a detriot in the front of my ford 60 and have had no problems yets although it just a 6 cyl. its took one hell of a beating the last 4 years
 
I ran a detroit in my old lp 60 with no problems and bought one for my hp 60 I'm building. From what I have read a detroit won't break unless a shaft goes or something breaks and shock loads the detroit. I'm going to send mine in to get cyro'd. Hoping it will save the detroit in case of a axle breaking

I did that for a day and came to the conclusion of -"**** this" :****: We normally go wheelin for 2days at a time, summertime could equal anywhere from an 8-16hr day, I don't have the patience for that many front digs.....and when you're bombing down the trails in Harlan and have to do a 3pt to make it up the switchback-you're gonna get passed ;)
 
iv broke detroits in the front
bc of shaft failure...the shockload kills them :****:
