Fuel Cell Pickup Location

I'm finally at the point in my build where I need to start on the fuel system for my buggy, my neighbor is an aluminum fabricator and said he will build my fuel cell for me for the cost of materials. So pretty much I need to know what I should do for fuel pickups before I go ahead and have him build me my fuel cell. Will a bottom sump facing towards the rear be alright if so how deep and will this starve my fuel cell of fuel if i am to drive down hill ? Or should I run walbro pickups inside of the tank? with either setup the tank will be baffled to minimize fuel sloshing. Any input is welcome. I will be running a 5.3 vortec motor. Thanks.

Mine has a front sump to facilitate routing fuel lines better, with a 3/8 tube ran to the back of the cell and foam blocks stuffed in there to minimize slosh. Never had an issue but I'm not big on much downhill stuff either!!

I run four Walbro pick ups in each corner...never a problem.

Depending on how long you still have to install a pickup you might want to wait for Holleys new Hydramat to be available.

Here's how I did mine 4 years ago, runs like a peach at all the angles it can stand on without falling over. Even with the fuelgauge showing way low. Basic and made out of various pieces of scrap. But works really well. Suction Tube is of course in the middle of it all.

I run the walbro pickups in all 4 corners, had great luck with them, can't really say anything bad about them. But I would definitely consider the new holley stuff if you can wait or a surge tank from ATL. Check out part#ST528 here: http://www.atlinc.com/pdfs/Racing/ATL-2014-Catalog-Page19.pdf I'm pretty sure BJ Allen (crawlin85cj) has run the surge tank i'm talking about in one of his buggies.

Or have your guy build a trap system like s.frimodt posted but i would run an in tank fuel pump with a sock and put it down in the center of the trap. I definitely wouldn't do a bottom sump only.

Are you planning on running foam? Your tank design may dictate what will work best for you.

I'm looking at different option from pick up to dual pumps, but it needs to support up to the 900hp range due to using e85. I'm using plastic baffling. I would also like to run a sending unit for a fuel guage

last i saw they were still taking info on what sizes people want so they make the sizes that would sell. i think you can email them or something to get on a list for when they are ready.

They had a press release today announcing how many cars were using it in the ARCA Daytona race, but nothing yet as far as selling it. And I would like the 1 size they have listed now.

I tried calling but there was a 30 minute wait for product sales and I didn't have that much time. That press release must have generated some activity for them.
