 I should be at reiter right now. But the jeep died and the wife had to tow my broke ass home.

Anywho, how many volts does it take to run the fuel pump on my Jeep? (2.5L 4 cyl 16 gallon tank)

I have 5.14 volts at the connector wiring harness at the tank. Is that enough? If so I have to drop the tank and find out if the voltage is getting to the fuel pump itself. I need to get this **** fixed for the work party tomorrow.

I've got the factory(OEM) 97 Chrysler/Jeep repair manual, but it's at home. If you still don't have the specs, I'll call you tonight.

Also, my first guess would be clogged fuel filter. Second guess is the pump itself has died (happened on my 92 YJ before I swapped engines)

5.14 volts?? That cannot be right. Should be 12~14, whatever the rest of the system is at.

Kinda sounds like you tested the fuel level sender circuit.

If you tested the right circuit, I'd chase down the fuel pump relay and test both sides of it. I bet you'll find 12 volts in, 5.14 volts out. Points are probly fried, causing resistance, and the fuel pump draw is dragging the voltage down.

Figured it out. When I reinstalled my tank last night, it crushed the little retainer for the fuel pump wiring harness. One of the pins had backed out of the connector.

All better now. I'm gonna go have beers and watch the football game.
