So, how long does it take to fill your diesel?

If I let it sit, I can only put it in the first notch, so it almost drips in. Usually, I can't even get it going that fast. Then the damn fuel foams so much, it almost makes it impossible to fill the tank all the way.

Unless I hold the lever at dead slow pump, wait for the foam to die down, dead slow pump, wait for the foam to die down...

So how do you over come this pain in the arse?

Almost makes me wish I had Yoda back....

Faster than a kid with a rice burner the other day, ~33 gallons too. :redneck: I don't have any problem locking the nozzle full open and walking away. Well, my wallet does... :haha:

Yeah, Wallet always feels light after an hour filling the Ram.

I have been able to lock it and leave, once, but it foamed out the filler, and all over the ground. Oh, and then the pump shut off.

Anyway, is it different between make and model truck? And Year? I haven't seen too many 93 CTD here, except mine

On the last body style change they moved the filler location, I'm sure the filler necks are also different. I think you're another change beyond that?

I'm thinking, and I may be wrong here, but the body style I have was the first Dodge Diesel style. So, it is very possible, they fawked up the design and this is a common issue with the diesel and this box style.

I'm thinking of trying to hold the nozzle upside down the next time I have to fill, and see if that works.

Its either that or go rake the Dodge people in Monroe over the coals. Actually, that sounds like fun...

A previous owner could have installed one of those antisiphon springs too, I've seen them cause issues with pump nozzles before. The fuel splashes back up to the nozzle and trips the shutoff.

Do like I did, hog out the filler neck and remove anything in the way. I also enlarged the hole so I can use the big rig nozzles at the truck stops. Takes about half the time to fuel up. :awesomework:

I don't see anything but the fuel level when I look down the filler tube, except for foam and/or fuel.

Mind you, I've used three different stations. Chervron (East Monroe), Circle K (Monroe), and the Chevron out East Sultan. The only pump I found to not shut off right away, was at the Circle K closest to Freddy's, but it didn't shut off when it was fullish. Fuel came rushing out the filler, onto the ground. Tank still wasn't 'full', but I stopped and left before it was too noticable.

Am I trying too soon to fill? Should I be waiting for any pent up fumes to escape? I have to do this from time to time with the gassers.

Either way, I still have to nurse in fuel to get a full tank.

Just a shitty filler neck.

So, I tried the upside down nozzle the other day, Worked great on filling, I could lock it, but it still didn't shut off in time to avoid the spilling of fuel.

That and it still stops about 5 gallons from full....

There has to be a better way, other than go trade for a gasser....:puke:

theres usualy a 2nd hose , a fuel vent going down to the tank... pull it off the neck, blow hi volume compresed air thru it ... sounds like the vents pluged..

i have the same problem in my chevy. i have to have it on the first notch. if i go to the second it just pops. i only have a 28 gallon though so it aint bad

I need to get the valve replaced on my compressor, so I'm going to try that after that.

I'll save to goodies that fly out for Crash's 'Wall of Shame'.
