Trying to decide how many gauges I want to run. I am thinking 2 maybe 3 at the max.
Oil Pressure
Water Temp
Voltage or Trans temp.
How many gauges do you guys run?
My last jeep had 6 and it was just to many.

All you need is Oil Pressure, Water Temp and Voltage IMO. Put a big mofo cooler on your tranny and don't run a gauge. ;D

I have Fuel, RPM, Volt, Water Temp and Oil Pressure,

I need the RPM as I don't have a rev limiter

This is what I am going with, but it is pricey:

250-DS-UDXRP: This model comes standard with all the basic instrumentation needed to operate your vehicle. Standard features include engine rpm, water temperature, oil pressure and battery voltage. You can optionally add oil temperature and fuel pressure by simply purchasing the required sender. Need more sensors? The VNet port will allow you to add up to 32 additional channels for the ultimate in expandability. The UDXRP model can record up to 10 minutes of data which you can play back later on the LCD display. You can also upgrade this model to download recorded data to our DataLink PC software for complete analysis. ($825.00)

I like that I can play bck all data after a hard climb, stores 10 minutes.

That was my original plan until the last week or so. I just can't make myself spend the money on it now.

oil pressure, water temp, volts and trans temp. i 'd only run a tach if i didn't have a rev limiter. i think trans temp is fairly important, plus i already had a extra gauge for it, so why not :dunno:

x2, that's perfect. I wish I had a trans temp sometimes just so I could keep an eye on it. The autometer cobalt digital gauges look pimp to my eye. I saw a rig with them at night and it looked hot rod quality to me.

Just run water temp and oil pressure. I dont have a tach and dont have a rev. limiter. Doesnt really matter. Green jacket, gold jacket, who gives a chit? thumb.gif

When I re did my dash I lost my volt guage. I see no reason for those. When I do a buggy It will have oil pressure, water temp and a 3" tach just cause its fun to look at but not required.

i run oil water volts and a big tach w/ a shift light... the tach is useful as i can judge when to "get in it hard"... the blinding shift light works because you dont have to pay attention, you KNOW when its on..... i usually feather the gas when i see the light... i know you can get a shift light w/o the tach... mount it on the cage and your good....

and only pussys need trans temp... i could fill my trans w/ concrete and it will love me for it.... :flipoff1: :flipoff1:

This was my thinking. Which is why I opted out of one. I coulnt do without it in my tow rig, but in the crawler if the Th400 were to get to 240 or so I wouldnt let out of it anyway, just run a cooler

I have 3 gauges in my dash. Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, Voltmeter

$100 for the 3 gauges from Summit, I tossed the gHey mount they send with it, and they are flushed them into the dash. They are backlit, and the needles light up.

Mike did it all when he built the buggy, I replaced all the guages when I destroyed them in Bama.
Here is prolly the best pic I have in my photobucket of them in the dash. I need to swap the oil pressure from the bottom with the volt in the middle. Can't see the oil pressure very well behind the cutting brake levers.

oil, water, and volts is all I am running

Plans are to install a tach later on if I decide the extra money is in the budget for it
