I see alot of you are runnin 4:56 gears with atlas 3:8 or 4:3 case, are you using high range most of the time or low range? i ask because im debating on which gears to run with a np205 and a c6, we crawl some but also want some wheel speed for the woo pow sections, i was thinkin 4:56s but not sure if they are low enough...any thoughts? thanks- nate

i know this doesn't exactly answer your question but i am going to run a 3.0 and 4.10 with 44s. i think you will need 5.38s with a 205

running 585s with my 205 and 44s 4low for the tech **** 4high 2nd gear for the bouncen

5 13s will let u carry some good wheel speed as long as u got a healthy motor thats wat i ran with my 205 and 406 combo

figure your crawl ratio probably want at least 30 somethin to one but you won't be running high range with that tho.Probably need lower gearing in your axles to ever be able to run high range

My jeep was a stroked 4.0 (just under300 HP on paper) stock auto trany with a 4to1 300 with 4.56 R&P low was just right 4 crawling high range was 2 hi 2 rock bounce just my 2 cents

i run a 3 to 1 lomax 205 and 5.13 gears, and a th400... to me its just about right, its plenty low enough for technical stuff and in 3rd i have plenty of wheel speed for hitting anything

I couldnt imagine hitting anything in high range, but I dont drive like Bobby T. either :eat:

Low range th 350 in drive 4.3 - 5k rpm 488's and 40 inch tires .. 25 mph

Low range th 350 in drive 3.8 5k rpm 488's 40 inch tires 29 mph ..

I use High range at places like harlan and bigger parks till i get to long hill or trail

So most of ya'll don't use high range?? I'm trying to figure out what's my best choice. As of now I've got a small V8 auto with 4.1 in the case and 4.11 in the axles. High range is useless other than drive down a flat dirt road. Do I go with 5.38 or a doubler?? See lots of folks with a 205 but not sure what's in their axles are gear and are they staying in low range?? I'm not seeing a 450ish hp with 4.56 cut 44's being carried in high range. Shot me straight.

i ran rocks(6.72), 205 and a 650hp motor on my last buggy. i never tried hi on the trail, but i don't think it would work for me. i could do 4 wheel burnouts on the road but i don't think the tranny would take much trail riding. i don't plan on using hi on my next one
