k sow i need some more help i know noting about gears an was wondering if any of u could help me i have a 91 mj with 4in of lift going on it the ax15 tranny 231 tcase and 33x12.5s and wht would be the best gearing for me thanks :redneck:

if it sees a lot of road time then 4:10 - 4:56 if it sees more trail than road then go lower 4:56- 4:88. remember the lower you go the higher your engine rpms will be at freeway speeds killing gas mialage and pushing a stock engine out of its power curve thus making it s life much shorter:booo:

Ok since you list an AX15 tranny I am going to ASSUME you have a 4.0 and not a 2.5.

For the 4.0 as has been stated you want 4.56 or 4.88. And my choice would depend on the amount of on-road and off-road time. For best wheeling results I'd go for the 4.88 but if it is a DD then I'd go for the 4.56 and then look at getting a 4:1 for the t-case. Also how long before you go to 35" tires?
And what axles? D30 front but which rear axle? D35 or D44? If it is a D35 then replace it before you regear. Get a D44 or a Ford 8.8 then regear.

A buddy of mine has the same drivetrain combo and wishes he would have gone with 4.56. He went with 4.10 and is always complaining about gearing on the trail... oh, and he only has 33's.:;
