So my property is 1/4 mile x1/4 mile and I'm putting my house at the back of it. Making a driveway wide and sturday enoguh for semi's to get in and make deliveries to my shop, strong enough for the low boy with the 300 on it weighing 140K# and so on is expensive. it is black dirt, so putting down gravel is about as effective as throwing $240 in cash on the ground each load and burning it. It needs stripped to clay, built up and then compacted and capped. now, there's a 15" water line going in a mile away. they have hit rock and are pecking it out and need something to put back in the hole. hmmm, like black dirt? So I stopped the foreman and gave him some beer and we went and saw my place. he's going to strip 20' wide, 2' deep and take all the black and put it back with basketball sized rocks and walk them in with a machine. it will end up about 1' higher than the ground around it so there's no ditches and a bout 8" of crown. then I need to cap it with some AB3 to make it nice to drive on. you could drive a million concret trucks on that kind of subgrade all day and never move it. I'm stoked that its getting done for free :woody: he's stoked that he's getting free black dirt 1 mile from the job. Now I'll be able to get subs in the property to work even when its raining. hitit

Nice fuggin hook up man !! Thats awesome !!

I really wish I could do a drive off the backside of the driveway back to the rear of my property for trailer parking and so forth and eventually the shop driveway pepper.gif

Kelly that is f-ing killer. Will the drive be where it currently is? Down the north fence line? House location, kinda on the hill at the top end of the hay field?

yes and yes, but the driveway will just be huge wide and tall. they have 12 miles of rock to peck through and backfill. I'm going to have them do it all around my shop as well
