Been thinking about starting this for a while but have held off till I seen somebody reply in the random thoughts thread about their daughter playing softball. So, who has a daughter that plays softball? Park ball, travel ball, school ball? Age, skill level, position, etc.? Where do y'all live/play?

My daughter is 9, has played since she was 5, just started playing 10U travel ball when all stars ended back in July, her main position is pitcher but is really good at 1st and is doing well at learning how to play 2nd.

Re:

My 12 year old plays. Rec ball, school ball and some travel ball. She can play any position but pitcher. She likes second and catcher the most.

Awesome! Guess I should have added (where do you live/play to my original post since not everyone has it in their avatar?)

Cool. I'm thinking there might be some guys on here that their daughter's have or will play against each other.

My daughter is a senior this year, center field. Or any position in the outfield. She's played school ball, rec. ball, and traveling ball since she could. The team finished 4th in the state tournament last year.

Omg thank the lord mine only played a year. Wasn't her thing. Mine either! Had me out there "helpin coach" .. Was volunteered by coach, as in put on the spot. That when I found out that if I run the bases twice I will not be walking for 3 days. Good lord.. I remember during those 3 days of hamstring hell, I thought I was stuck on the toilet one day. My Fukin legs were toast. How pathetic huh... But don't worry. Since then she's been on a competition dance team.. Just as serious and costly as softball... BUT, they never ask my selfish ass to "help coach". :woot:
Guess she's a chip off the ole block. I played ball one year. **** sucked. Them girls in fast pitch are AMAZING tho! How they throw that fast under handed I have no clue. Kudos to you dads that are involved in that traveling stuff. Boy taking about time consuming sport... I always liked to watch how serious some of them parents were. Fukin nazis. Kids looked miserable as hell while the parents screamed at them. Never will understand that.. Only thing I could come up with is that their fatasses never was good at anything so they tortured their kids by making them practice ALLL the time..
And dam poolman, you started early too huh? senior, good lord, makes me wanna cry thinkin bout my lil girl being a senior.. Oh how I wish I could stop time.

There's just not much diff between club ball in any sport. The parents share the same qualities. We all want to see our children do well and succeed. Sometimes they need encouragement and flat out pressure to pull their head out of their ass.

Keeping your kiddos involved along with you being there for every event is whats important.

Mine played a couple seasons but it conflicted with soccer training and schedules. Plus other girls developed early and became monsters so she didn't feel super competitive.

I forgot what I was hoping to add about your question. Lol

Whatever you choose, be there every minute to tell her you are proud of her and encourage team work. Great memories and things she will remember for the rest of her life :) enjoy

I'll say this about parents out there pushing these KIDS too hard... first one of them that screams at my kid will get punched in the mouth... repeatedly

My nieces play. Got one that plays travel school and park, she fast pitches and plays anywhere needed. Other 2 play at park and school and are mainly outfielders. All play fast or slow pitch.

Awesome, keep it coming. I agree that some parents get outta hand, and I'll admit that I get fired up sometimes too. But it's hard to stand by and watch her not give it her all when I know what she's capable of. I take her to all her practices, hitting lessons and pitching lessons so I know what she can do and when she's not trying her hardest.

And Kush, it is amazing how fast the girls can pitch. Everybody talks about how small my daughter is, but amazed at how fast she pitches. She's not really that small it's just that all the girls she plays with are 1-2 years older than her. She only weighs 58 lbs but can already pitch an eleven inch softball from 35 ft in the low to mid 40's. And she puts a lot of spin on the ball, it's actually starting to curve already. She also has a pretty good change up that drops into the mid to high 30's

I posted in the random thoughts. I have a 10 yr old playing school and travel ball. Plays catcher and third. I enjoy it far more than gymnastics she was in previously.
Probably won't play against most of you all. We are in Indiana.

It's fun watching then learn and to see the competitiveness grow in the whole team.

All my nieces throw harder than I can so I tell them, "you throw like a girl" and mean it in the best and most encouraging way possible.
