He's referring to the amount of Zinc in the motor oil which is used as a lubricant for flat tappet cams but also contaminates and shortens the life of the catalytic converter when it's burned off and enters the exhaust stream.New vehicles must meet a 100k emission system life so the new GF-4/SM grade oils and the new CJ-4 Diesel Oils have much lower amounts of ZDDP to prolong emission system life, Also new vehicles use roller lifters or roller cam followers and the camshafts are made of different material so the amount of zinc in the oil can be reduced. Bottom line is if your breaking in a flat tappet cam get some of the Comp Cams or Crane Cams Break in lube. I know that the Q-power (quaker) racing oils and the Valvoline Racing oils have some of the highest ZDDP content. as far as the old DELO 400 good luck finding it, as it's been replaced by the new Delo 400 LE (low emission) oil which has far lower levels of zinc.Once the cam is broken in you should be Ok unless its a race motor with high Valve spring pressures.
