Just thought I'd post up a GOOD customer service experience I recently had while in Moab for EJS. I was hanging out /w the CRAWL Mag guys, but I don't think that influenced this scenario TOO much, as I know of one other guy that the AA guys helped out as well.
My Atlas wouldn't shift into hi-range, I loaded it up and took it to Moab anyway. Apparently, it was an installer error. I measured, measured, and re-measured the length of the output shaft sticking out of the transmission and the amount if input shaft protruding from the transfer case but I didn't realize that the splines on the trans. output only went in like an inch, then flared up to a larger diameter. When I installed the t-case it bottomed out and I didn't realize it when tightening it down, it shoved the t-case input back, broke a retainer in the front adapter casting, fawked up the input shaft, a syncro, and some other stuff.
We got ahold of the guy @ Advanced Adapters, told Mike (the owner) the problems we were having, he said he was 10 minutes away and would swing by and check it out. They played /w it for a couple of minutes, decided it was something internal, pulled the pan and found some large metal pieces, and then said the unit needed to be removed. I started to gather my tools and climb under it and his 3 guys said "We got this". Next thing I knew the owner and 3 other guys are under my rig removing the Atlas. These guys are great. They pulled it, we hauled it down the road to their condo, they ripped it apart, tore the whole case down, pirated a bunch of parts from a case they had brought for their vendor display booth, and started reassembling. I took the input shaft down to Steve's @ Moab 4x4 Outpost and shortened it a little. They had the case out, rebuilt, and re-assembled in about 3 hours.
I handed Mike a business card and told him to send me a parts build and he just said nope, don't worry about it. Did I mention these guys are great? I reinstalled the case and it worked flawlessly from then on.
