Hardware for adding interior grab handles?

Anyone know of a source for a piece of hardware that would work for adding interior grab handles (like entry assist handles) in an older rig? Something like those expanding molly nut things that you use behind sheetrock, but obviously much more compact... I'm sure there is something out there, I just haven't found it yet. Thanks in advance!
 
I had something like that installed when I had my roofrack mounts were installed on the cab of my truck. I would call these guys:

I call them Nutzerts. But they probably have a bunch of other names. They're threaded inserts that collapse into themselfs, binding them into place, with threads up to about 3/8ths inch.

Like toggle bolts? What about the handles that strap to the cage? If nothing else works I've got a Hitachi framing nailer. :haha:
