Header coatings?

I've had good luck and bad luck with nitro plate out of Nashville. Little cheaper and its aluminum coat tho

Thank you nate! Also were you running O2 sensors with your old motor?

These headers are going on it.

I used performance coatings plus in Joplin Mo, they did my powder coating as well. They did a great job, I would definitely use them again.

yes sir Run them and it will keep yall from having to retune computer.

I would not do nitro plate on that motor it's the one that didn't like it unless u did thier black finish

Hmmmm interesting????

Do you think it could have been a flaw in the process?

could've been had them done twice and within 4-5 rides they would turn and be rough and dull looking Checked exhaust temps and nitro plate said the temps where fine. Had them recoated for new motor no problems yet So idk what the deal was nitro plate kept telling me the tuning was off on motor and if I was burning their coating off then it would burn up Pistons but I ran em for two yrs never had a piston issue. Also once u nitro coat them nobody else will coat em afterwards due to the temp you have to get metal to take off coating

New coating

If you get them coated, you can take 000 steel wool and polish them back to shiny new when they turn after some heat.

Wow!! That is kinda interesting. Not sure which route todd will decide to go. Think he is looking at a few options

Heath, mine are nitro plated silver. They did turn dull. Coating has flaked off in a couple places. But they are still not rusty. I would do the black coating next time probably.
O2 sensor is in the headers; open headers with sensor required manual tuning below 1500 rpm (false lean due to reversion).

im not trying to sell a product just share what we see alot of here at my shop . we do alot of ceramic coating on motorcycle, atv, sxs, and lots of headers and turbo manfilods and have had the best luck with the 2500 deg turbo black the cerachrome (chrome ceramic) seems to never hold the shine it starts out with unless you keep up with the 000 steel wool and polish them everytime they are cool.
