heat shield

anybody got any good ideas? my floor gets very hot under my feet...ive wrapped the exaust with DEI exaust wrap,and that helped some.was looking for something cheep to keep the heat down. anybody?

Chunk of tin or aluminum long enough to cover the offending area and muffler clamp it fore and aft of the hot spot.

How close to where the floor gets hot is the mufler? How much room do ya got between the exhaust and floor? Best method is how factory stuff is--A heat shield attached to the exhaust that is not directly on the exhaust (like 1/2-3/4" gap between the shield and the exhaust)

Yeah, i think having that little gap is key.

its the Y pipe tween the motor and the muff...the muff is fine its back aways...its pretty tight under there...but i have plenty of tin on hand...

OE's will often make a "hat" piece and spot weld the legs directly on to the body if they don't use the method Crash described. I've made some on my rig and it's helped a lot. The key is as much air space as possible between the the body and shield.
