Alright instead of doing a garage thread and having all you "know it all's" telling me how I should have done it, I am giving everyone a chance to weigh in before I do the work. Also you guys can point out things I might be overlooking.

So I am building a 86 4runner. Lets start with the front suspension. All the parts I got was off of a wheeler that I parted out. The front axle is a 83. It has crossover steering and that is about all I know about it. I think the leafs are Toyota rears. The drivers side has an extra spacer block under the leaf pack. Anyone know why and want to verify those are Toyota rears?

I picked up a front hander and frame tubes from SORD. I also got a front truss from them and a diff protector from TG. They are just tacked on for now until I can get Darius to finish the welding.

So the plan is to replace the bushings with poly ones and bolt this stuff straight up. I figure with the frame jigs that come with the front hanger pack that the tubes can only go into one place on the frame. Also I plan on doing the 5th bolt on the crossover setup. Anything else I should look into doing? I have no idea what gears are in it. It may also have longfields for all I know. What other upgrades should I look at to see if I have? The truck I parted was on 42's so I figure they must have beefed them up a little.

Onto the rear. The rear axle is 58" from drum face to drum face. So I think they must have swapped a newer rear end into the 83 that I parted out. So I dont plan on using the one that came with my 4runner. I think the leafs are 5 leaf wagoneer packs. Again I need someone to verify. The shackles have some extra swing shackle thing on them. Not sure if I should use that same setup. Any opinions? I need to clear 36" tires and I dont plan on doing a body lift. Will I use the stock rear spring hangers and just move the front ones? How do I know how far forward to mount the front hangers?

Here is the 4runner rear axle as it sits. I dont think I will be using any of it unless I need to mix some of the springs into my rear pack.

And I will be running the 36" Iroks

The spacer is there due to the fact that the passenger side perch is slightly higher than the driver side. IIRC about 3/8". get the spacer welded in instead of just being clamped by the spring and ubolts

check chop shops baby blue beater thread bu stay away from the rear lift block.

I'll be the first smartass that says "link it!":D

Best way to figure out what springs you have is to measure them and then compare them to a chart. Even then you won't know for sure, you will only know the main spring, because many people bastardize leaf spring packs on they're rigs.

I would not use the "double shackle" thats on your rear springs. They unload at in-oppratune(sp?) times and will send you ass over tea kettle.

Using those front leafs, your deffinetly gonna move your steering box ahead as far as possible. It also has redrilled perches to move it ahead what looks like another inch.

Looks like you have a good start so far. I'd HIGHLY suggest cutting apart the shackle jigs so you can add a 1 1/2" of material in there so the tubes sit higher in the frame. Not only will that allow the rig to sit lower but it'll more importantly help to correct the caster angle that is inherant with the shape of the ifs frame.

what is your point here?
I got rear`s up front and they work great!

I know I have heard its pretty common to run rear leafs in the front. I am just not positive that is what they are.

I also just realized I measured it wrong based on the chart. I should use a sewing tape to measure along the leaf but I used a tape measure and went straight across. I will have to remeasure tonight.

Well the real measurements are actually 51 1/2 in front and 56 1/2 in back. Acording to the chart I really cant figure out what I have. Both packs are 5 springs if you count the flat bottom one. I guess a second gen toyota rear is 52 so that might be the front but it says 4 springs not 5 on the chart. And there is rear wagoneer springs that are 57" but they say 4/1 on the chart. Maybe thats them.

Stop thinking so hard... The front springs are 3rd gen rears with some other leaves added to the pack. The rears look like ranger/f150's. If they are they will be 2 1/2" wide leaves and from the center pin to front will be 25 1/2" and the rear will be 32".
