my 99 dodge durango has a HP60 rear end under it that I'd like to have and the durango don't need.
but I want to still use the durango or sell it as a lifted mud whomper so I need to put a rear end under there that will work and be cheap
It's currently 5 on 5.5 so I was thinking 9" and regear to 4.56 to match the front. But the HP 60 has some kind of tone ring on the ring gear and a sensor plugged into the truck. What is it? do I need it? and if so how could I get it on a 9" cheap
or I could get a stock rear end, wheel adapters and regear it?
what would be the best route (ie, cheapest)?
It's also got an atlas I was thinking about stealing out of it, but don't know if it'd be worth it. It's mated to the stock dodge trans and drivers drop. My next build I'll probably want pass drop and not use a mopar transmission, probably 700r4. So I'd have to buy a stock tcase, do some driveshaft work, and some crosmember work just to get a used atlas out to sell/???? for how much??? 1200 or so?
