my 99 dodge durango has a HP60 rear end under it that I'd like to have and the durango don't need.

but I want to still use the durango or sell it as a lifted mud whomper so I need to put a rear end under there that will work and be cheap

It's currently 5 on 5.5 so I was thinking 9" and regear to 4.56 to match the front. But the HP 60 has some kind of tone ring on the ring gear and a sensor plugged into the truck. What is it? do I need it? and if so how could I get it on a 9" cheap

or I could get a stock rear end, wheel adapters and regear it?

what would be the best route (ie, cheapest)?

It's also got an atlas I was thinking about stealing out of it, but don't know if it'd be worth it. It's mated to the stock dodge trans and drivers drop. My next build I'll probably want pass drop and not use a mopar transmission, probably 700r4. So I'd have to buy a stock tcase, do some driveshaft work, and some crosmember work just to get a used atlas out to sell/???? for how much??? 1200 or so?

But I can see you pulling the front ring gear, and slapping a JY S-10 rearend with wheel adapters on it. And figuring out how to run a driveshaft from the tranny to the rearend with the slip full extended so you can take the transfer out. Sell it on the southeast side of wichita and move to Missouri.

that's kinda the plan

I'd put a stock case back in and make the front/rear gears match so i could still drive it if I couldn't sell it

but no one that wants a lifted durango needs it to have an atlas and that rear end

Maybe I could drop it off with Kelly and he could do the swappin and we can do some tradin and whatnots

guess I don't have your cell phone. I got airbus when I called the number I had for you.
I was about to drop coin on a lomax in the next month.5. I really want an atlas 3.8. I need one for my new rig so I can use the gears I have and not go to 4.88 with a 3.0 case.
if its 4.3, heath needs it in a bad way.
I'm the king of making **** work.
width on the rear?
the tone ring sensor is your rwal, your rear abs. if you don't plug it in it doesn't have an abs signal and your light will be on, no biggie, but it does disable the abs. Let me look around for a tcase/shafts/rear. I bet I can some up with something that will get you your rear, some cash, and a vehicle ready to sell and me an atlas.
what your #

here's a pic of the atlas

need to get a width on the rear yet

what do you think it'd be sellable for after the swap?

worth same as before = ???
the only way its worth more the way it is now is to a VERY niche buyer, that you'll never find. selling it with that **** would **** you, but save trouble I guess. either way, you can come out money and rear end ahead and me a case ahead

yeah I can't find that niche buyer so I'm going for a high school mud whompin kid

yeah - I'd probably sell the rig or just keep it and street drive it

hopin to swap the rear hubs to 8 lug, build a front 60 and put it in a sami tub I got for free, part the yota out and build a fresh rig

I think the PO paid 11k for the axles!!! the rear is pretty cool but the front is just ho-hum D44

I want 8 lug hubs on the rear end I'm stealing out of it but they are front 60 hubs with drive flanges

so if anyone has 8lug hubs and wants 5 lug I may be interested in a trade - but I think I'll need 3/4ton rotors on them
