I like all bimmers. I rode an 06 R122GS and really liked it. It's big, heavy but rides great.
I would want one for touring, but I can't afford the bike or the maintenance. There are other bikes for touring that are just as good and are less maint. cost. Jap of course. Prices are not cheap on those anymore either though.

If you can't rack on the miles on a bike, then don't buy a Bimmer. I put around 8-10K a year on 2 wheels and hope to do many more next year. This year has been low with the moves and all.
