• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

hey i got a question?

90". Why? Beacuse that's what mine is at.

It really all depends on what you're using the rig for, what kind of rig, personal preference, blah blah.

Im seting my zuk up at 103 but thats because im tired of 84 being to short for some of the stuff I try to climb. alot of it has to do with what you want to do with the rig. also tire size needs to be considerd.

80-84 " will get you through the tight trails without have to climb trees and flop your rig on every corner:cheer:

You have temporarily lost the privilege to preach about tipping over :flipoff:

Totally personal preference. Ours is at about 85" and it's too short for the most part, but it does kick ass in the tight tree trails and such.

Really I'd have to say that if you still think there is a "perfect" wheel base, and that it's been recorded for all of mankind, you just need to STFU and wheel your ass off. You'll figure it all out sooner or later.

I've wheeled at 126" for the last 1.5yrs(124" before the swap) and have managed to squeeze through quite a bit without tearing stuff up...just makes you learn to be a better driver and setup for tight corners.

That being said...I would like to find a way to get to 115" but that requires a flatbed w/ fuel cell or major gas tank relocation

I have been driving around with a 137in wheelbase basically wheeling a limo:rolleyes: But in the next week or so I shortening the wheelbase down to 110-115 haven't decided yet but if you like hill climbing and big rock it seems that the wee bit longer rigs seem to handle more:cool: Like Bunks rig for instance or Briejier both on this board they have huge buggies. LIke all have already said PERSONAL PREFERENCE just my .02cents

to get back on topic ...

I think it's a good discussion and agree it also varies on what ya got and want todo.

I see factors like COG, GVW, center clearance, etc being key in determing an ideal wheelbase/tracwidth.

I'm looking to go ~98" of wheelbase, probably 74" trackwidth, 16" frame clearance (on 35's), COG around 36". My worry is the COG being so high (in relation to wheelbase and tracwidth), and so will try to drop that as much as possible. (<edit> forgot GVW probably about 3200 lbs </edit>).

Does that seem reasonable to those that have been doing this for ages?
