my cousin just installed his dr. performance predator stage 3 and it shoots his EGTs up to about 1350 pretty fast, he has to let off after that cause he wasnt sure if it would keep climbing.

all he has is intake, 4in turbo back straight pipe, and predator.

he detuned the hypertech stage 3 before he put the predator in and hasnt reinstalled it yet, but that never got over 1250.

so whats going on, the predator is suposed to lower EGT's.

thanks.

dr performance? ohhh dat can't be good..

Rule of thumb from Cummins is you can run 1250* all day long. I've heard 1300 from others, since of course cummins would underrate it. And I've run 1300 for miles on end towing heavy trailers with no problems. The internals in my motor still look perfect. I've shot my pyro up over 1600* plenty of times.. and a few times I've looked down with the needle at 1800.. It's usually no worry to play and see EGT's. Mostly people are worried about EGT's while towing. Since you're going to keep the temperatures up for a longer period of time.

So jeff is 1600 in 2 blocks slightly over fueled? I don't usually tow over 1200 unless I am almost to the top of a hill or a powerstroke is trying to pass (which has never happened by the way). Cummins told me 1250* 24/7 is ok:redneck:

yeah, i was kinda thinkin it was only really bad if it gets up there for long periods of time but wanted your guys take on it. thanks everyone.

so he had the predator in his truck about 3 days and was going up 512 with a camper on and lost all power at the top. pulled over and it was throwing codes. it was like boost and something else, the same thing the predator messed with. he disconnected it and reset the comp and it runs fine without it.

stupid predator, now lets see if he can get his money back, then again he might have a weak feul pump?

it's pretty common for something like that to happen.. Predator isn't the only one that will do stuff like that.. Edge's stuff has a 60% failure rate on their "Attitude" stuff. Have him call them up and tell them what happened, and he wants it fixed or his money back. I haven't heard of a single company that will not comply with that, they are well aware that the boxes can have issues like that.
