These aren't my sisters but she sent them to me tonight. She said she took several hundred with her Canon and she said she got some awesome ones. Apparently Union Pacific wasn't able to get some loco's out of the Oz yard so she was down there shooting 1/4 submerged engines. As well as got some other swesome shots. Hopefully she downloaded tonight and I can get them up in the next day. Glad I dont live in Oz. Sucks. I know all of these places.
From my sister's forward:
"The first several are of Osawatomie as seen from Highway 169, Potawatomie Creek
which you may have heard breached its levee on the south side of OZ is or was
about 3-4 from the top of the bridge overpass on Hwy 169. The Marias Des Cyne
was almost as close to the bridge overpass on the highway. The dams in Oz are
all at their weakest and the National Guard was there trying to get people
rounded up and out and help keep the dams from breaking. They said there was
still water heading down this way to Oz as well as to LaCygne from the flood
gates at Pomona that were to have been let out however we also heard that one of
Pomona's dams broke so not for sure how much more water is headed this way or
how much of that is rumor. Anyway the middle half pictures are those as seen
from Hwy 152 West going towards LaCygne. The gates are all closed and the water
there has risen about 2+ ft. since 11 a.m. In one picture you can see a huge
tree log wedged in the middle of the highway and the water just rushing in all
its fury on the other side. The water was really moving and I would hate to have
been caught up in it
The last several pictures are of Linn Co. N 1095 road
going North to Paola, more water!!! However that hasn't flooded over or been
that bad since the 50's or 60's we were told when they had a big flood. So
basically where we are at Fontana, only has one way in or out and that is to go
7 hwy to 169 hwy however if 169 is closed we can't north."
