Yesterday Washington State House of Representatives members Cary Condotta and Bill Hinkle introduced House Bill HB2819.
This bill would remove the current lid on gas tax allocations to the ORV fund.
Currently the allocation is based on one percent of gas tax at 23 cents a gallon regardless of how high the gas tax really is.
The current law has the gas tax going up to 37.5 cents a gallon with ORV allocations based on 23 cents a gallon. This bill would change the allocation to match the actual gas tax up to 37.5 cents.
This is the same legislation that the I proposed last fall except I linked the allocation rate to the actual gas tax no matter how high it went.
In my opinion my bill language was better, but nonetheless I fully support this piece of legislation.
This bill has been assigned to the House Transportation Committee.
Please contact your two Washington State House of Representative members and let them know what you think about this bill.
If they are on the Transportation committee it is critical that you contact them ASAP!
