Looking for info on how to build one. I can cut and machine the plate thats not the problem, just wondering if I can use a stock shaft or do you have to buy one or does the whole thing come in a kit that they want sell separate? Working on a limited budget and can't be spending a arm and leg on this.( Want to use a 208 to a 205) Any info on this would be great seeing how this would be my first and really don't have a clue how to do it, but hey you got to learn sometime. (Hell I don't even know if I got the right T-Cases)

how much room do you have? in a navigator we built for my buddy's uncle, he took the 208 cut off half the case where the front output shaft goes down, removed the chain, and used it like a reduction box and put a hanging 205 behind it. it is a pretty long setup but cost pretty much nothing if you have the transfer cases.

Room is not an problem. It's going into a 78 4 door Wagoner( go ahead an laugh everybody alse has) and I don't mind cutting the floor board to save money. Heck the only thing jeep now is the body.
Did ya'll use the existing shaft out of the 208 or did you have to buy a speical shaft to make it work. Also did you have a plate made or did it bolt up with out one?

Thanks

NP208 & NP205 = 5.3312 : 1

NP203 & NP205 = 3.92 : 1

NP203 & Low Max NP205 = 6 : 1

Here are the #'s for you to see what you will get depend on the route you take. Saving money or saving time.

Thanks for the info on the gearing. Looks like I got lucky with the 208 laying around. And as for as saving time or money , I've got all the time in the world , money on the other hand is a bitch to come across.I know I sound cheap but I've work with what I got.

I am more of a fan of the 231c hd/241 in front of the 205. it has the 6 planet gearset instead of the 3 planet. going on the back of what tranny? if a 208 is what you got, run it. I'd say having a shaft made is cheap insurance. I see people make their own doubler shafts out of stockers with welding/keying, all this ****. almost never works. I say call D&D and ask duffy how much his shaft is. think its about $250ish. 4340 chromo.

thats what makes it so long, there is no plate or new shaft. you bolt the output flange of the 208 directly to the 205 input flange or yoke, or make a short jack shaft between them. the only thing is it must be a hanging 205 or military 200.

Your talking about using the 205 like a divorce box( I hope). May have to look into that.

that takes a LOT of wheelbase. a lot lot. I like the married case as that eliminates the **** in the 208 you don't want, ie, anything but the planet set
it does take a LOT of wheelbase, we made it fit on a 4 door truck that is WAY to tall. The planets are all you but, on a tight buget, and long wheelbase it will work.
