How to grease a RCV.

I pulled my spindle off to grease mine. As you only grease them every six months. The bearings need to be inspected anyway.

From: http://www.rcvperformance.com/axle-tech-faq.aspx

Q: How often should I grease the axles and how do I grease them?
A: We recommend 4-5 pumps using a manual grease gun every 6 months. Our axles have an easy to use zerk fitting for simple greasing.

The Rockwell CVs grease from the end of the stub shaft. I hope they make this change to all their shafts.

Redneckengineered sent me this.

I don't have a picture of the fitting I use but here's a link to one real similar.

Mine just screws onto the end of my grease gun. You gotta crank the wheel all the way to the stops to do each side. It may be easiest to jack up the truck so you can turn the tires to get the fitting just right. You'll probably need an extra set of hands to hold the needle in the fitting while you pump the grease. It's pretty simple overall.

If they are brand new don't touch them. They are loaded with grease from the factory and frankly the RCVs are great at sealing out crap. I probably didn't grease mine for a full year and last time I took them apart they looked brand new inside.

Enjoy, they're a great product IMO.

Thanks.

I just put a set of rcv's in today and yea the orange boots are hell to put on I did find that a heat gun helps a lot

My boots went on rather easily after I slathered some engine oil on the bell. Slipped right on. I like how the boots fit perfect in the d60 outer tube essentially making an outer tube seal.

Your setup looks very similar to my front end. Can't wait to bash on mine.

Some of the smaller shafts also grease from the end I believe d44 and newer yota shafts?

Re:

Yes on mini yota shafts..its pretty rough having to pull the dust caps though :flipoff1:

Hello, the cv joints do come greased up and ready to go. You should grease every 6 months or if you submerge in water. Add 10 pumps at that time. Most of the applications do grease at the end of the outer stub, we are looking to upgrade the Dana 60 to do this as well.
Please call us if you have any questions or concerns, 815-877-7473 any of our staff can help you out!

Mine (Dana 44) you pull the cap and take a grease needle and give it a few pumps every few months. And as far as coming from the factory with grease mine were freaking loaded out the ass with grease it was insane.
