So I tallied up all the reciepts, I didnt hit 10K but I got pretty close and that doesnt include the Turd motor or the axles that were "pre bought" from the Turd / sale of the Turd. When I first built that motor back in the day I had 800 into it and I had 1300 in the 60/14B back in the day as well so take that as you want.

Not bad at all considering. Im real happy with were Im at with it even though I still need to sort it out and buy a few more lil odds and ends. But like I said, if you found something with a comparable parts list, youd be more into buying a used buggy than what i got into my project with new / known parts. I always wondered what I could do with 10K and alot of labor, I guess Ive pretty much found out !

Oh yea... John, I took your belts out and have them in a box in the truck to bring to you tommorow.. Thanks again ( I put my outta dates back in so no worries for safety / rec wheeling )

Capt Carl... Ill give you your Optima back once you get your Jeep ready to wheel , you know, Ill keep a charge on it and what not since its in my buggy :flipoff1:

Thanks agian to all the guys that put in work, donated parts, time blood sweat and beers. I couldnt have done it without the fine folks of HardlineCrawlers.com and all my buddies that helped me chase the dream. thumb.gif Lookin forward to alot of thrashin and wheeling in this thing real real soon !!

P, you inspired me to do my buggy build. I've been following it here on Hardline and thought hell start selling some parts scrapping all my scrap. I have a semi close to rolling chassis and I haven't spent but like 500+- out of my own pocket. Actually I only have half a frame, but I do Have alot of ideas and parts stacking up.thumb.gif. Thanks for the inspiration. :drinkers:

I built the sheep for about half that with almost ALL of the parts laying there. that's just 4K in ****ing wiring and fluids and pumps and and and . I did curt's for 17K because he had nothing to start with. you had some and bought a lot, so you came in WAY cheap compared to almost anyone else that does it. Thing with that is, you can't repeat that, just like I couldn't repeat the sheep or curts. I used up WAY to many favors getting mine and his done. If its an outright build for a customer, its always going to be double plus.
that's awesome. FYI, I have since dumped another 6K in the sheep to get it where it is now.....which isnt' very far. laughing1

I just want people to know if you want something bad enough, put in the effort and stay focused you can get it ,ya know ! Im sure Brad will come up with something badass and I cant wait until he starts a build thread and giving us some pics and info on were he is going with it.

I enjoy the creative backyard, do what you can with what you got approach in this hobby, hell everyone has thier limitations, its a matter of pushing yours as far as you can and sticking to your dreams !! thumb.gif Most everyone I know that builds, has built or has wheeled for any amount of time has come from the roots... Had some junk they threw together just to be in the woods, and repaired scabbed it back together over and over to stay in the woods. Thats cool to me.

It has always killed me with "jeep" guys that talk all that stuff about I could never own a buggy or never do this or that.. yet they tote a 15-20K note and then bolt on stuff. Cmon man molaugh

Anyway, like I said I got alot of help from alot of people. I also got alot of favors and alot of support from alot of people. Im fortunate to have that type of support and have people get fired up over something Im as fired up over and help make this thing reality. Thanks again and get yo buggy on !!

I dunno what I have in mine, but it has to be close to 20-25K including the cost of the truck back in 2001. which, I guess isnt horrible.
I will be ready to build a buggy within a year or so...I wanna race. :flipgotcha: :woody:

I love to see you tear up your junk :flipoff1:

Paul I wish I had the know how to do what you did. I am just in a spot I do not know what to do. I have all of the parts I need to do a buggy for the most part. Of course there are a LOT of things I would need. I just really feel like selling my rig and starting over is the right thing to do, but then I look at what I will get for it and all of the good parts on it and think damn what am I doing?? If only I had the know how you do I could have a buggy with my parts on it.

That pretty impressive. The story of, "I built it cheaper than I could have bought it" is one that's rarely told.
