The day we went to Monteagle, my laptop went down. Video driver would not load. I sent it off to HP the Friday we went to Monteagle. They replaced:

Mother Board
LCD Display
Heatsink Fan
and Hard Drive.

What, not my hard drive for a video driver. Well, I had a backup that was only 3 days old. I got the laptop back Monday 9-22, the day after Jellico. I spent the next 4 days getting all my programs loaded, and all my personal settings dialed back in. That is Thursday 9-25.

Project complete, back in business. Get another backup.

Friday afternmoon(9-26), I get lines in the screen again, BSOD, video driver fails to load.

Just got the FedEx box to ship it back to them again.

This sucks, just when business is picking up, and I need it the most.

Mine is bringin the suck, but I have the 4 yr Dell smash it and we will give you a new one warranty. However, like you, I dont have enough down time to send it off.

Laptop = Toshiba.

Mines a muh fuggin tank and has taking abuse like one, Im amazed this son of a bee is still working problem free. Its been to Iraq and back , had HB try to kill it with a rockin chair, bounces around daily in a backpack on the back of the DualSport...

I am not opposed to changing brands, but would not consider changing platforms.

Mac will run windows and do it well. I'm not sure how much better they are than a good PC laptop though.

Yes it will. A friend of mine that I have bought my Macs from has set up some to run windows. He said it has been smooth so far. I use all of the same Office programs on mine without a problem. John if you decide to look further into I can give you his contact information.

I talked to HP today. Kept me cool, but damn is was hard. I go to me order status page on the net and they say they are trying to get in touch with me and my return date has changed from "10-10-08" to "unknown". Warranty status has changed from "warranty" to "out of warranty". Charges due have changed from "$.00" to "$794.00". I call and get this person, obviously not from around here, and english is not their first language. They tell me is has "liquid damage" and is not covered by warranty and the mother board and keyboard has to be replaced.

I ask for a supervisior. They say call back after 8AM Pacific. So, I wait, I get mad, I wait, I get madder. Then I call. Do the say or press one, for like 10 minutes. All right a human.

Tell them I need a supervisior. But have to tell them the whole story to get put on hold again for a supervisior. Finally, I get another foreigner on the phone, she says it is "liguid damage". No help, must pay. But if I want, they will assign it a case number. Oh great, now I have another damn number.

But, I had researched the net before I called and found there is a person in charge called a "Case Supervisor".

Now I have a "case number" woo hoo. Now I ask for a case supervisior. Sure you guess it, back on ****ing hold. Case supervisiors are either very few, or talk a long time, damn, another 30 minutes of hold.

Finally, I get "This is Dianna, how may I help you". Dianna is American, she is in eastern time zone, she is a southerner.

Okay I have to start from the beginning. I tell her I only had it back 4 days from their first repair attempt. And they replaced the motherboard that now is supposed to have "liquid damage". She looks it all up. Sees my facts are right. I tell her, there is absolutely no way anything got spilled in this computer in the 4 days I had it between repairs. And both repairs are for the SAME video driver error.

She says, now I only deal with her, get a direct number into her, they will expidite the repair at no charge.

Hopefully I get it back soon. Web now says "under warranty" and "0" again.

Glad the tech is not a waiter, cause he would surely spit in my food.

Sorry for the long rant, but damn. I make all my income in the last quarter of the year, and feel helpless without my laptop.

It took me and Kim about a day to get used to the 2 or 3 main differences from a PC. We've had this Mac laptop for about a year and a half. It locked up for about 2 minutes a couple months ago. Other than that...it is as fast as the day we brought it home. No querks or closing of programs or any of the stuff my Dell did about once a week. It's amazing...you click on a program and it loads. thumb.gif We use Microsoft Office on it too on a daily basis. It's the first thing electronic I've been happy with in a long time.

John Galbreath Jr.,

HP Laptop are well known for Video Card Driver Failure in the Bios Due to the fact that the video card is not cooled or well cooled. Or that the Bio is very unstable and crashes. Most of there Tech Support guys are from India to keep the cost down. Hp Laptop are usually warranty for 1 year and they are gone after that. John they will reformat the Harddrive again since its company policy. If u have any more problem. I am able to Help. I am a certified Dell and HP Repair Tech.

Anthony

BTW should have gone with a Dell or Toeshiba
