Both, I really can stand to cut payroll, he was making good money, $18+ an hour. But he had fallen on hard times, lost his house trying to keep in drug addit son out of jail. Plus I think his son just takes his money. Anyway, Joy caught him at 11:30 last night locking our gate from the inside. I had her call the police and have them approach him. He was "living" in an old delivery truck box van that we don't use. I had the police remove him from the property, they took him to the Salvation Army.

Now homeless and without a job at 62 years old. But, damn, I did not take him to raise.

I really feel bad about this.

You did the right thing John. You didn't know that he was living there, so who knows what he would have done next.

John, I know this is not your first Rodeo and you have all the widom and knowledge of how to handle these situations. I know it must have been hard for you to do this, but, in the end it would either be him or you and yours. RIGHT DECISION, don't second guess yourself on it John. :indianajones:

Being the boss sucks some times. I can't imagine how much thought you put into this.

I had to let a guy go a few weeks ago and it took me way to long to make the choice and drag out with second, third, and forth chances to do better. I did not want to let him go but he would not do what I needed him to to keep his job here. It was tough because I knew he had a lot of kids and a wife. This guy only worked for me for about a year. I can't imagine letting some one go that worked for me that long. I know a part of your pain but in the end I look back and say it was the right thing to do. I have been much happier with him gone.
