E$OD (E4od) will have a ton of wiring coming into it on the driver side. I'm not super familiar with them, but I had to have mine rebuilt, and it was costly. The e40d has a sizable plug on the driver side. I'm not sure that your's is E4OD, my 90 f150 with a 351 has an E4OD, and when I was looking I swear I remember 90 being the first year for gas trucks, diesel's used them prior to then.

Overdrive button on E4OD is on the shifter... AOD will usually have an "OD OFF" button on the dash.......

you either backwards, or that is not true in all cases, mine is an E4OD and I have the od off button on the dash straight back from the key.

sounds like there was some E4OD's that had button on the dash; I just remember putting an eng into an '89 F150 w/ 5.0, it had the AOD......maybe the F250 has the E4OD?) And binder's right, I've seen E4OD stamped on the pan as well....at least on the earlier ones.We do a ton of work on later model vans/trucks ('96 and up) with our fleet accts, and they don't have e4od on pan.
