Was changing tank in buggy an the "bell" did not seat properly.... Liquid propane startin spilling from line. So I reached in to cut valve off to keep from wasting 25$worth of fuel. Keep in mind I was wearing mechanics gloves. My hands were in "danger zone" longer than expected cause the assholes at propane place opened the the valve the full 50 turns it takes to go to lock/open.

The day after...

Bout mid week

Skin came off today:(. It's gettin better just painful process

Not really sure..... I didn't go to doc. Fig all they say is "keep it clean" then send me home with some cream.
At this point if it starts any regression ima take my ass to doc. FML

Will Carter had the same thing happen and his was much worse. I never realized how destructive that stuff is to skin, it looks so innocent even when leaking. We have propane powered forklifts in our shops and this is enough to prompt me to create a safety course required for all employees to complete. Propane is no joke!

I hope it heals up good as new for you in short time. That can't be any fun to deal with.

Crawlin the thing is, the ice numbed it so fast I didn't realize the damage it was causing until I snatched my hand out.... Once it thawed the pain hit big time.
Hate to think what it would have done with no glove on....

Ouch....I ain't skeered one bit to let all the propane leak out of my **** before I get chemical burns! Hope it heals up and gets back to normal! :o

Yep, I'll let that bitch leak out $30 with the quickness before I stick my hand in there after seeing this!

Actually that's frost bite, not chemical

Propane vaporizes at -44 degrees so that is as severe frostbite as you can get. I am curious why the tank valve did not check off and slow down the flow of fuel.

Re:

You likely would have felt the burn quicker without gloves and got your hand out of the.

This is the reason I always use a long pair of pliers to attach and remove the line from my propane tanks. Even if they are "empty" or the valve is off. I find that most of the fuel comes out of the hose until the seal is fully closed

My hand is ALOT better.... I started putting some silva din (spel?) on it an it came around pretty fast after that. That stuff is awesome. I'll try an post a pic of it later.
Filled tank again the other day..... With valve off it still tried to "spew" when I was tightening the bell down the last .25 inch???????
I thought nothing should come out as long as valve is off????????
Didn't **** round this time tho...... Had channel locks ready :****:
