I need a new ignition switch system.
1. My ignition lock cylinder broke on my the other day. I bought a new one, but it was wrong and didn't fit. The right one costs $100+. I dont feel thats worth it.
2. When I was trying to install the new lock cylinder (the one that didn't fit), the electrical switch came apart one me (kindof exploded to be honest) and shot all of its little pieces everywhere.
3. The Toyota key lock system (that little button on top of the lock cylinder), is actually part of the steering lock. I am working on a way to permanently disable the steering lock for safety.
Any ideas on ignition switches? I'd rather not drill the dash. I was thinking about wiring up an enclosed steel box (maybe bolted to the floor?) with a keyed power switch to supply power to the switches, and 3 toggle switches for Acc, Ign, and the starter connection. I could probably include some LED's for a professional touch. Does this sound like a good idea? I would obviously use heavy duty toggles, with a momentary for the starter. Maybe even one of those cool ones with the red cover. :redneck:
I would probably be cheaper to build more than one, if anybody is interested...
