Tranny been leaking alot lately... since getting back the rear of my tranny case is cracked. Im ****ed unless there is hope that getting it TIG'd together is even worth attempting . Has anyone done this and been even a little successful ? I can get it TIG'd through some folks I do business with at work so that wouldnt cost me anything except the money spent replacing fluids and **** pulling the engine and all that....

Is it worth it, thats the question ? This is the same tranny I put the UltraBell on, its been broke at both ends at this point so Im going to say its seen plenty of stress and my mindset is Im ****ed. laughing1

Im seriously considering CS3204b1/2 and putting the rear tcase support back on it and rocking out for the next ride I have in November... might as well get all I can get out of it ! molaugh

If it is just leaking and is not in a place where it supports anything. I would say tig and ride . If your going to tig it , possible find both ends of the crack and drill them to prevent them from growing any further out . This may work and may not but I figure it is about that that time to break them down anyways and go over what needs repairing or replacing anyway ( get one more ride in before it gets to cold to go)

Its getting band-aid fixed, I cant justify spending the money and if I pull it out Im doing a front driveline proper as well else it isnt worth all the effort.

CS3204B1/2 SemKit from Flamemaster it is ! Gotta love that freebie aviation sealant **** ! f-It run it until it wont pull . loller.gif

Biggest disappointment at this point, there is no way the buggy is going out to the Hammers for KOH.
:'(

why do you think you wont be able to take it to KOH? that **** is in Feb and it is now the first of NOV.....you have time dude! especially if you get some work comin your way.

laughing1 Time is not the issue... I have to afford KOH for starter's..

I can rebuild you one using your current trans. All I need is another case, two or four wheel drive doesn't matter. Get it to MM and I'll do the rest, no charge to you. I built the one in my current rig and it seems to work well. The only draw back is I have no warranty. :flipoff1:

Hell I can do that here at the homestead but I appreciate the offer. Its more like this, I am not pulling the engine and all that out and NOT redoing the front drive line, everything maintenance wise escalate's into more mods / more upgrades man, you know this ! laughing1

Im not going to have any kinda of extra money with the holidays and all that anyway so Im being realistic right now... Buggy is going to have to be broked till Feb/Mar. and that will give me time to make it better for the long run anyway. thumb.gif

Can I get my spool gun to the crack without takin the trans out?
If you can get a grinder to the crack I can weld it up so it want leak. thumb.gif

If so we can welder it up this week.

That blows, that tranny has been a PITA. Make the last ride of the year on it and save up to do it proper. No point in BS'ing it and doing a bunch of labor to band-aid it. You have a seat for KOH and I will give you some wheel time. ;D

So you guys are down to 1 buggy on that big ass trailer?

I think Pat is getting his together and then all Jimmy has to do is man up and finish his :flipoff1:

Hopefully around January, just depends. My money tree is looking really bare.
Well that means yours could fit on there now. Nothing like breaking in that new buggy then a week of wheeling at the Hammers. loller.gif

Our last rig (the green Jeep buggy) was a pile of _____ after beating the hell out of it for 3 years. At the first rock race of the year in 2007 Kim cracked the tranny all the way across it after slamming down on the skid that mashed up into the tranny. Seriously...like over a foot long crack total in length after we just had it rebuilt. We took our chances and had a buddy tig it. We were not putting any more money than we had to in that thing. We ran 3 more rock races like that and 4 trail rides. I sold it that way to it's current owner and I understand it is still there with no trouble. loller.gif I say tig it!

Cool Droopy, thanks for the feedback on TIG repairing it... thats the kinda stuff I like to hear real world "we done did that once" type **** laughing1

Its not "bad" bad right now, its cracked basically the top left ear were it bolts to the adapter off. (even though it really isnt off )

Im going to band aid it for now and make the few rides we have remaining ( if it holds ) this year on it like that. Ill get another case rounded up and get it proper after that.

I take it ya'll seen the the post about no chase vehicals at KOH. No outside help at all period. Ya'll better put some storage racks and tire carriers on those buggys.

Yeah no chase, but the race is only Friday. There will be a full week of wheeling beforehand, and on saturday after the race. Plus another buggy to use for the pits would be ubber nice.

hope it lasts for ya P!

kinda sucks about KOH and the chase vehicles....but I guess that makes the race more interesting.
Wyatt, you puttin a cool tire carrier on there?? :flipoff1:

make it a double carrier please

By chase vehicle, in my talking about it was just to have mine around the "week of" the race to chase and all that, not during the race. But yea, all that doesnt matter anymore. LOL
