Can anyone give me more info on this? I believe it was two weeks ago.
I'm pasting from a couple of threads and emails regarding the issue.
We can't have this kind of thing happening and it cannot be tolerated. The DNR had to go in and clean up all of the trash left over by the people who did NOT reserve the campground. The people who had gone through the process to reserve the campground shouldn't be threatened by a bunch of thugs who don't want to play by the rules. We need to find out who these people were. If you know and don't want to say, please take it to them personally and let us know that it was dealt with. Otherwise you can post up or PM the info to me and we'll get the message across.

What happend over memorial day weekend was people had the campground reserved and were inside the campground with the gate locked, others showed up and wanted to be in the campground and ended up blocking the gate till the people in the campground letting them in.
in the end the camp site that had trash left in it were the people who were let in.
The sign is a priority. I really don't believe a sign would have alleviate the problems last week. People were just downright mean to each other and were beyond reason. I spent a lot of time talking with these people, they were beyond reasoning. It does explain why the lock is broken quite often.
These people do not care.
Is ticketing them or calling the police an option? I do believe that proper information will be helpful. People get mad when they get up there and plan on camping but find out they can't. It may take a while as a lot of people simply have no idea that reservations are required.
Did you get any information about who they were, may be a club name, a group or anything that we can use? If I had some leads I could get some public user pressure on them or we could consider banning them from the campground permanently.
I'm confused on something. Do you not have the authority to have them removed or fine them? I'm not sure what your role or authority is in these circumstances. This is more for my edification.
Frankly, I would have called the police. I talked with the person who had let them in, and he said to let them be. I did threaten them with a ticket when I saw they had ATVs in their campsites. I have the basic authority to write citations, but I do not have the authority to detain anyone, and I basically have no back up or personal protection. Because of the latter, I am pretty cautious about how confrontational I want to get. In my opinion things were at a point my comfort level was pretty much maxed out. Calling the sheriff whould have been my option at the point before writing a ticket. Again the person who let them in said just to let them be.
I don't believe they belong to a club, but he told the people he is friends with Bobby Long. All for now. Nancy.
