Alrighty guys. So without doing research I ordered 2 inch BS rims from Summit. Didn't think about the reversed center part. They were expensive and now I have Great Lakes DIY beadlocks on them. Took me forever to find a place that would/could mount them for me.

Thats not my problem. Here goes. While wheeling at around 10 psi I was doing fine. But as soon as I started fawking around and flexing it out, I blew a bead. Fixed it with a CO2 tank and did the same thing to another wheel about an hour later.

I was told that a bead sealer is what I needed. Who uses what and how do you like it?

Forgot... I have 17x9 Cragar Soft 8's with 2" BS. Great lakes DIY kit. Irok Bias 36x13.5x17's

Thanks
Charlie

probably gonna have to run internals of some sort....bead sealer won't keep the bead on, it'll just.......seal it.

I was told about a product at tractor supply companies called, case bead sealer. Should hold like glue. I'm betting your rims are too wide now with your outer bead outside the rim

Thanks. I've also been told that I need to clean the paint off of the inner bead lip and then use the glue.

I love my wheel tire combo and my BS seems to be right for my truck, so I would like to fix this without having to pick up new rims.

they should have been put on the inside.

just get another kit, and put them on the inside. mount the outer lip like normal, and just leave the ring on there.

if you have clearance on the inside.

If I had a comp rig that would be an option. This is just a weekend warrior and something to fill my time.

Looking for a LOT cheaper of a fix right now.

Just really frustrating breaking a bead while flexing out. I didn't blow any when I got pulled back over after flopping but flexing out I did.

To start things off I think I'll do the bead glue. I don't think I have a steady enough hand to lay that uniform of a bead around with my welder.

Thanks for the input guys.

most rigs brakes and steering wont clear a inner ring.

Get rid of them on CL and start over. glue is not going to help you. If you keep pushing the tire off experimenting with bandaids, then when you finnaly get the right setup, it will push off of the inner saftey bead easily cuz the tire inside the bead was worn from being pushed off too many times.:awesomework:

With the reversed center he doesn't really have a inner bead which is causing his problem :;

I was refering to the tire not the wheel. I have had friends that never ran beadlocks and the more times you push that tire bead over the wheel bead bump, it wears on the inner lip of the tire bead. pretty soon they pop off easily. I couldnt figure an easy way to explain it. did it make sense this time?:redneck:

Yup! Clean the paint and put the bead sealer from case/IH on there and no more issues till you try to pull the tires off.... :haha: The stuff from case is basically urethane for windshields. It's some good stuff. :D

You could try the bead glue or maybe break the tires down and try to add a safety bead?

FOR THE WIN!

To be done with this situation, cheap and permanent...break the tires off the rims and get some 1/4 dia steel and make a new safety bead. There should be a witness mark made by the tire so you know where to weld it up. It will be a mofo to pop the tire over so use a ton of lube..

Well Charlie must of saw the thread on my site I posted about this. Pat suggested you run the tires at 8pis around the street a few times to break them in. The problem is your sidewalls dont flex at all. Once your sidewalls get broke in they will stay on the bead. Some glue would help but they still need to break in.

FTR.. Charlie tried to hump my front tire, when he did his back tire blew the inner bead.

I run Irok's with no beadlocks at 4-8psi and have never blew a bead. But I have a 15x8" wheel with 36" Iroks

Didn't see the thread on ur site. Just one last thing that I need to get fixed before I can go out again.

My tires were bought used so I guess I assumed that the sidewalls where already broke in. Can't really drive my truck on the road to break them in. With my locks I am no longer street legal as well as my lack of fender flares and mudflaps. And as anyone who has been here before knows, the cops suck around here. Last thing I need is a ticket.

I don't think that I fully comprehend the safety bead solution. Could anyone elaborate?

Take a piece of 1/4 round steel, Weld it on the wheel where the inside of the bead will be. Mega safety bead is yours.

Well trailer it somewhere safe to break in the tires. Year ago self tapping screws where the way to go. I never did it because the fear of leaks. But with bead locks your probably used to the leaks.

Best route to go.

Breaking them in probably isn't going to help, specially since they were used tires.

Your rims probably have a real inner bead that helps keep it held in place. :;

With the snow on the ground I can sneak the truck out a lot more so I'm working on breaking em in! Ditto on the screws. Fawk that stuff.

My locks don't leak at all suprisingly(sp)... Did at first but evened up the torques and fixed it.

These damn reversed center rims are going to be my downfall!!
