Ok, so I know this is kinda stupid, but I have led a sheltered wheeling life since most of the trucks Ive wheeled with were underbuilt compared to mine (read: only tires), or the drivers didnt want to scratch the paint, so up until about two months ago, I had never even seen the log bridge on the Isabel trail. Ive always wanted to get to the top, but like I said, no one would go with me. Some friends and I went to the bridge, but a few rigs were having problems, so we all decided to turn back as it was getting dark too.

Ive had property in GB for the last 6 years or so, and rode dirtbikes up in the mountains, but on different trails than trucks wheel on (motocross riders like me dont like rocks, lol) so I was never up there on a bike, and Ive even started hiking up it, but got lazy and came back down.

Anyway, the point is, I want to go to the top so the mystery that has plauged me for the past 5 years (literally) can finally be solved. So, after I get my rig fixed, I plan to get a group together to run the trail with me for the first time. But, until then, someone just tell me whats up there! :D

You only got to the log bridge? :haha: Dude, that's the PAVED part. :clappy: :corn:

:booo:

I know, but like I said, no one would go with me... Ive been told it gets harder past that, but I walked through everything before that without airing down and taking the hard lines, so Im hoping that if I air down, and actually put a little effort into it, I can make it.

Lots of big loose rock, but not a terribly long section. If you go without someone who knows the trail, and you get to the waterfall with the big dropoff on the right, STOP. There's nothing past that, do not bother trying to cross the waterfall.

Its gonna take me that long to get a steering arm on my truck, but yeah, Id LOVE to head up there with someone. When and where will you be posting about that? Send me a PM if you remember, Im up for it as long as its on a weekend, and not the 14th or the 15th, or the 7th, lol.

x2. There's very little room to turn around up there too. Unless you like scaring yourself, stop when you get to that part and turn around as there isn't anything past that and the trail pretty much ends another 100 feet or so up the road.

When are you guys heading up there?

If your confident with your rig cross the washout. It def. makes for a good rush. That and you can go see the old mine shaft at the end. I did it once and that was enough for me.

Which washout? I assume its beyond the spot where people are telling me to stop?

Mine shaft? I vaguely remember seeing a mine shaft back in my dirtbike days... Maybe I have been up there? Is there more than one trail that leads to a mine shaft? I remember one where there was an old ass cabin up there too at the top of a STEEP ASS hill that I barely made up on my bike, it was only as wide as the bike too...

I love finding things like that up there, its too cool to see the history of the area like that, to know that people used to work and live up in there. Really neat IMO.

You wear a helmet to the mail box, don't you?

:flipoff:

It's not that bad, sheesh...

It's about 100 feet above the very end of the road, up past the big scarey water fall :D You can't miss it, the trail is a short scramble up through the tree roots, almost straight up.

There are two old dead cabins up there that I've seen. The first one is off to the right on a short little spur road, 150 feet long or so, that starts a few hundred feet before the scarey water fall. The second one is maybe 200 or 300 feet from the very end of the trail, just above the road. There isn't much left of either one.

Sounds like you know the area. Id like to head up there sometime and see this stuff, hopefully I can get my rig going before the newbie run up there and can go, lol. I just hope I dont break another steering arm, lol. I need to get crossover :(

You better believe it. Full leathers and body armor too, it's a dangerous world Out Thereâ"¢. :flipoff:

You mean the one we've been trucking garbage out of for the past few years
worth of cleanups? :clappy:

The washout/waterfall wasn't that bad. And I'm narrow and tippy. A little pucker coming back across it, but been through worse. Now trying to turn 5 rigs around was entertaining.

Just ran it yesterday, and it was my first time to the mineshaft.

Crossing the waterfall isnt worth the drama. If the trail went someplace then I would do it but just to go 20 yards and turn around. Izzy is fun up to the bridge. Makes for a nice, casual drive.

The waterfall is not that bad to cross. There is nothing past it trail-wise and it's a tight turn around at the top. The mine shaft is about 50-60 feet above the end of the road and pierces in to the mountain at a angle. It's floded so you cant see the ground, about 6 feet from the back wall the mine goes strait down a looooooong way so stop before you get there or you will get a very unpleasent surprise. If you feel like hiking. Park at the last spur that splits to the left going up. A trail leads to the left and you can hike up to lake Isabel, it's a beautiful lake with clifs around one side. There's also the two derilict cabins that crusty mentioned. I think the mine was a silver mine. Speeking of mines, there's another one up the loging road out of the first pit up in the clear cut area, it's called copper bell mine but is not very big:D
