So i have a 1976 jeep j10 it has what im pretty sure are dana 44s f/r with a 6on 5.5 bolt pattern. i want to strait axle my dd, and i think half ton axles that were a little wider would look bad ass would i have to move the spring pads on the axles? as for steering would flat top knuckles of a chevy d44 work thanks

It can be done....have you measured the WMS/WMS of your 44's? Also, you'll likely need to regear 'em....IMHO, it'd be cheaper, and much cleaner/easier to SAS your DD using Yota parts if you're patient...

define wms/wms and imho please

i already strait axled my wheeler using toyota parts its 1990 sas std cab its clean and i like it but everyone does it beacause it works well and is stupid easy.

the 88 ext cab would be getting a 4.3 if i did the 44s i want it to be different than all the rest it would not be a wheeler but a daily driver/look at me truck its still a ways out on the project list i think someone on here did it i know him his names dalton wheres he at?

the main thing im worried about is the steering working correctly

thanks for the input

yea i have seen some 44s under t100s and tacomas mostly.:awesomework: or i could just spring over the jeep weld the rear and wheel the piss out of it then do the swap

id DD your 90, do skys fullwidth swap on your 88 with the 44s, thro some chromos and 5.38 in there and go!

Those jeep axles aren't full width. They should be 60-61" Wide. I did a dana 44 swap on my pathfinder. You could use a calmini hanger for a nissan D21 the front end, they have they same perch width as the wagoneer.

You can leave the wagoneer spring under and get some 44044's, an those will give ya about 4 inches of lift with a SAS, or ya could spring it over an use stock waggy springs.

You will have to regear those axles though, mine had like 2.08's or something stock.

Steering is simple, get some flat top knuckles and hysteer arms, an ya got crossover steering. Your jeep may already have flat top knuckles stock too:awesomework:

Seeing D60s for $250 and 14 bolts for $100, I dont think Id even consider it.
Being a 44 is weaker than a 8".
Waste of time, when they sell 3" wheel spacers now.

4.3+D44=broken axles, chromoly or not. CTM will make 300M custom length D44 axles but they are super duper spendy. Dumb idea IMO anyway because the R&P is small and weak:rb:

thanks for the advice guys:awesomework: so im thinkin no d44s to much money not enough strength get me a 60 and a 14 bolt for 400 bucks ill do that!

Craigslist DUH. You must look long and hard. I have literally searched every city on craigslist in the PNW. And you should do that at least every day. And be willing to drive. But $1600 from odie, thats ridiculous.
Heres a D60 for $375, took me 5 min to find. you know what Im getting at

x2. Get a D60 out of a 1977.5--1979 Ford F250. The Diff is on the side you need it, and it's cheaper than the other options you're looking at. My buddy just put a set in his wrangler for less than 800, and he has the same engine and T-case setup you're using. It's a bit wide because it's fullsize, but that's what he needs since he drives like he's on fire.
