Hey all, I got a couple questions that should be easy for a jeep guy to answer. It's a high pinion D30, non disco.

As I understand there is a gear split for the D30, so I will need a new carrier to install gears. But what is the split? Also I have a loc-rite from a buddies jeep, will it work on both sides of the split or do I have to figure out which one I have?

Also, I got no brakes on the axle. Are all brake calipers, rotors the same or are they year specific?

I believe that the carrier break is 3.73+ and the brakes are the same from 90+ on XJ's, TJ's and ZJ's.

The rotor, caliper, and unit bearing are all different between the two brake designs. 1991 is when the "new" brakes started.

Measure the unit bearing from the backside to the wheel mounting surface and post it here. I can measure a spare in my shop and let you know...

OK cool, so I have the late model brakes then? I have a one piece knuckle, the brake retaining arms are cast as part of the knuckle.

OK so now the last question is will the loc-rite I have work on both sides of the gear split?

I am sorry, I forgot to give you the brakes that where on it, They are crap but you can come get them if you want them. You would have to rebuild them, but they are free.

OK one more question..... I hope.

Will a D30 carrier from a CJ5 work in my newer reverse rotain D30?

Will any 3.73+ carrier fit any of the housings, low pinion or high pinion?

yep carriers are the same. sorry I didnt get back to you. It seems I need to learn to read The gears I have are standard rotation.
