jeep hyd. assist need help

Okay so I'm about to put hydraulic Assistance on my xj. But not to sure on what and how to do everything. I know tap gear box and I'll need a hyd cyl and lines. But my question is how long of a ram do I need? What size fittings to tap the gear box with? How long of lines will I need? How will get need to measure for ram lenth? How do I measure to see how long my lines need to be? What size tap do I neeed to use. Any help or anything I'm forgetting about would be much help.

It can be done on the cheap. Did this exact setup on several past rigs and it's worked fine.
