Thinkin about doing a shackle rev ive read the good and the bad in some mags but i wanna hear from those who have done it and like it or dont like it

my crap will be driven on the street but more of a wheeler than a street driver so let me know what you guys think im not into rocks just trails, mud and hillclimbin....... thks Sean

I have done a bunch of rigs for guys and they work GREAT.....

Don't hesitate---do it :;

jeep

im kinda on the fence also
i want it more off road friendly than street freindly
ive heard by doing the reversal that your axle has the potential to shove back into your fenders, or bust tcases, which with a longer splined driveline that can be corrected and if i slide my axle forward when doing the swap would eliminate the other issue but what about when wheeling with alot of power and being locked in the front?? ive heard that your front axle doesnt move you as well with the reversal and tries to walk away from you as posted in the last fourwheeler mag ..... and while running into and through deep nose diving areas your asss end wanting to go over because of the nose diving issue... can that be corrected with better shocks??

I have always thought about doing this. But.....

I have seen many time where a reversed shackle gets hung up while backing off an obstacle and bends the leaf. But they also do help out in articulation. So its kinda a toss up for me. :cool:

I'm on the fence about it right now. I have seen rigs setup both ways work good...

I'll kicking you to the other side of the fence :redneck:

Do it. Did it on my heep and werks real well. Flexs great, very stable, suspension works together rather then opposed from one another, waaay better on the road no more wandering. The only negative is front end dives down... And climbing very steep grades (like switch back on Issy) the front will want to walk away. But wish i would have done it sooner. :beer:

thanks on this guys i think im going to leave it until i can wheel with somone that has it done on their jeep for now if i like the way it wheels then ill get some ..... thank you all Sean

Just wheel with a few toys--they are that way from the get go. You don't need to compare brand to brand. A rig is a rig no matter what sheet metal it sits on...

jeep

true thats a good point and they wheel extremely well to .... nice thought ... hmmm thanks crash now my brain is buning its clutches again .... you smell that crap... lol its a worn out zoom clutch disc smoking in my head ..... Toyotas dont seem to have the nose diving issues do they? and when wheeling a toy does the front axle feel like it wants to walk away from you on steep terrain?? i guess thats just small petty stuff really just crap you adapt to so once my brain quits smokin i may have to head out and start cuttin my crap up lol thanks for the info mr crash...

I did the reversal to mine and it works great, I do not notice the nosediving over other setups I have had. I think the nose dive is more a function of the soft springs everyone uses, I used the Rubicon Express spring over springs. Use high clearance steering and it will handle great on and off road.
