My mom and her husband just got a new JK Unlimited and now the lift shopping has begun. I think I've got them convinced to go 4" rather than the 2.5" to replace the control arms and pitman arm. Right now they're thinking about Skyjacker - are there other brands to consider? TeraFlex? Rubicon Express? Full Traction? Black Diamond? Superlift?

With these kits, is there anything that needs to be done after installation? Any alignment issues? They'd probably get it installed at a shop, but if it's not too much of a pain, I'll just do it for them.

The end goal is primarily a daily driver and weekend toy on 33's, but my mom's not exactly hardcore so the ride quality is actually somewhat important. The factory LSD and 4.10's will be staying.

Thanks,
Eric

4" would be too much lift for 33's on a JK... you can clear 35's/36's with that lift

yes get the alignment after its lifted... if its a DD the 2.5" and 33"s will work fine.

Yeah, that seems to be the general idea from what I've been reading.

Brand preference? Or is there somewhere I should be looking for kit comparisons? As much as I hate to do it, I might have to actually check PBB...

I wheeled for a week with three different JKs. Surprisingly, they actually did well. Each had a different lift on them (and I can't remember which ones) and the only difference I noticed is that one of them the rear control arms brought the tire/body clearance a little too tight on the rears. Each JK was running 35s. We fixed it with a hack saw doing a little trimming. Be aware that the track bar bracketry is a little suspect, as it failed and a trail repair was required to reweld it into place.
