I vote close the thread an put something up in remembrance instead. I struggled enough last week without remembering cancer and the rough last days. How about we open up discussion of good thoughts, or anything to keep his legacy alive? I've had messages asking what people can do, when a dedicated ride for him is going to happen etc. Truthfully, I have no idea what to tell them but that I will bring it up at an appropriate time. I don't know when that is or when to talk to the family, but I do know that it will need to be a time when I can compose myself.

Agreed. I planned on starting a "Good Memories" thread for John before reading this. This will be the way I remember him.

Do it! It's already been going on in Facebook world, it would be good for this place as well. Still doesn't seem real. His last post on the forum was the one saying he wasn't going to make it to RBD bc he was back in the hospital. :'( :'(

I figured I would start it today after the he is laid to rest this afternoon, part of the healing process.

I locked the thread and started a new one. I agree, reading back through it sucks and makes me sad.

To save from retyping, below is a story quote from john g memory thread that I posted. I sold John a gun a couple years ago and would be interested in buying it back for a keepsake if he still had it. I haven't talked to Nan much, only met her once on a ride at HPO. Should I wait awhile before sending her a message?

"I got tired of breaking Longfields in my front FJ80 axle and was about to drop the coin on some RCV's, so I listed an AR15 with a bunch of ammo, mags, and a case for sell on here and JohnG wanted to buy it. I made a special trip down one weekend to his house to deliver the firearm, as I was in a hurry to get those RCV's ordered and was using the gun money to do so. I arrived at his house and he text me and said he would be there in a minute, he was out in the woods riding on his sxs. He pulled up, we chatted, and shortly thereafter, TK and Rich Berry pulled up. We all sat there shooting the ****, heard a few one leg jokes (which I always appreciate Lol), then Rich and TK left. John then began to show me around his place. Showed me his shop and all his badass rides, the badass back deck built on his shop overlooking the wooded ridge behind it. Showed me the dock down by the creek below his house, then up by the pool/back patio and into the basement. He showed me his vintage Harley, little dirt track car (can't remember what they are called, etc.). Such a hospitable guy, proud of what he had, but not the least bit braggadocious. I really enjoyed the grand tour and the shop chat. I bet I was there for 3 hours or longer and on the way I figured it would be a simple drop gun off, get paid, and make the 1.5 hour drive back home.

I am actually thinking about contacting Nan to see if he still had that gun, as I would love to offer to buy it back as a piece of memorabilia to hang on to."

She is in a state right now, and I assure you she won't be offloading anything for a long while. I would give it a few months to bring it up. All my thoughts and ideas are having to be suppressed for her time to grieve. Only thing I offer is help. She knows to call or text if she needs anything.

I will do that, thanks. I'd like to have that gun to keep, since it's something John and I both shared.

I personally feel ANY offer to purchase any property to a widow is a no-no. Just my opinion. The only appropriate time is when a widow starts to offer or unload items. Then you know it's time. I can't tell you how many conversations I had with John about items. Some had prices, some did not. I just never got them. I refuse to bring that up with Nan. But that's me.

This is pretty much Spot on right now, the guns are tied up in a trust to go to Nan and Joy and will be kept for quite some time. I do know this though, when the time is right, Randy Morris will probably be the one to see. As for the buggies and such, they plan on keeping them at the moment and will be delegated to a few people to sell when the time comes. No offense to offering and I understand your wanting to have a piece for Keepsake, but it might be a while till that comes JD. thumb.gif

You know me, I don't want to step on anyone's toes in anything, just crossed my mind as something she may would feel comfortable with turning loose one day, knowing it will be a keepsake and probably one of MANY guns John owned. I will probably just leave it alone, but it would be nice to have in the gun case to be able to walk by and think about the day John bought it from me and showed me around his place. :dblthumb:

This is actually pretty funny to me. While I totally agree with the sentiment of waiting or even ignoring the urge to make an offer. If John wanted something he found a way to get it even if he stepped on toes.

Re:

He bought two rifles out from under me cause he lived closer. And no he never offered them back to me.

Lol I guess it's not so much as stepping on toes I'm worried about, as it is coming across falsely as disrespectful during a time of grievance. I don't really know Nan well, but from what I do know about her, initially I wouldn't think she would think I would be coming off disrespectful anyway, but like I said, I don't know her well enough to be sure. Which is why I consulted Easyline prior. I will just leave it be for now.
