So the girlfriend and i might go try this, maybe take a lesson or two on basics and rescue (still jsut talking about it anyways)

Anyone here go kayaking? like it? any preferences? I am thinking we would mainly be doing lake kayaking and then later on after some time in the rigs go out in the sound maybe, so calmer water kayaking is what we are thinking, as fun as whitewater would be i don't think it's in the cards right now. I've had my thrills enough in a driftboat going through rapids with my dad  good times:awesomework:

Up in Anacortes at the Skyline marina there's a kayak outfit that has quick lessons, and then a tour out through Burrows Bay and out & around Burrow, Allan & Young Islands. About a 3 hour excursion. Double & triple sea kayaks, I can get you info next time up if your interested

Don't need any lessons. Go rent a tandem for your first time, they're more stable. They'll give you vests to wear. Agua Verde near UW campus is a good place to go, lots of calm water around it to get started in.

I've gone kayaking on the Yakima River in an inflatable one-man kayak. It was a lot of fun.

The inflatables are easier to transport and store, but they aren't suitable for certain types of waterways.

My wife used to work at the Kayak tour place out at Edmonds by the ferry a few years back.

She's been itching to get out.
