KOH 2011 UTV Race.

By the time you buy a utv and spend all the money to make it legal to race you can have a really nice buggy.

You know, not quite, but close.

I think a stock S with some time behind the wheel and all the safety mods would be competitive. That said, you need lots of time out there to be able to push it as hard as possible in the desert.

If I were building for this race, I would strip my RZR-4 of the rear seats, add a smaller cage, tune the suspension and own some ass.

This thing rides at speed better than any UTV I have ever seen due to the wheelbase.

That said, I will be there to photo as well if I can justify the trip this year.

Yeah but not a race buggy. Buy a used RZR S, put a suspension under it, Beadlocks and tires, build a better cage, seats and harnesses and you are most of the way their.

It helps if you have sponsors :dblthumb:

We thought about the 4 seater but ground clearance going over rocks would suck. :****:

They are supposed to have more rock crawling in the race this year.....So no 2wds :drinkers:

I took mine on the rocks this weekend and I can say it is not anywhere near the issue I was expecting. I took it on some serious trails in Hot Springs and I can 100% say it is better at technical crawling than my old built Rhino.

As for the big rocks, I have a plastic UHMW Factory UTV skid and it slides right over the big stuff with a bit of a bump.

Climbing verticals? No comparison. This thing climbs unreal. I was shocked.

Speed? No comparison. The wheelbase eats up the rough stuff.

I think the positives would way outweigh the negatives in a KOH race.

I should have said nice used buggy. I bet you can't race in the UTV race without haveing close to 20k if not more invested. Yes sponsors help but not nearly as much as people think.

Yep and it will take 2x that to get a good KOH competitive buggy.

Still, the prestige and race level is no where in the same league either.....

They should just make it pure stock class UTV Minus safety issues and tires and wheels. Keep the motor suspension all stock see how it goes that way. Cause really if your going to spend 20k plus, just build a buggy imo. :drinkers:

What all do you have to do to a utv for koh as far as safety? Pending on how much it is I agree with bustedknucklefilms it wouldnt take much at all to make a s compete. Last years koh winning utv didnt have that much stuff done to his. Longtravel, hubs, billet front cage, skid and roll cage.
