KOTH 2010

YEah that is a great comp, sucks they are not doing it again. Is there going to be another Rock Ralley? It was awesome, I sure hope so

Should read... canceled to to last years event.... I loved that comp the One year I ran it.. but seemed like it got worse every year... Really doubt anyone would have showed up this year anyway...

We need to get our heads together and make a Rock Race. I created a topic on my site called the Southeast Challenge. In a nutshell you would have to race at different parks . Say like 7 races. Then have a blow out race for the guys who won with the best times. Much different than the Free Rock Races. But it is going to take clubs and Shops working together to make it happen. I would do whatever necessary to help get this going.

After seeing series fail and lose interest I think that the only way to make it work and get people to compete is just have a single event. Just like KOTH. Series and all that are too much commitment, you are marketing to average joes that trail ride. Creating a series is too much. I think KOTH is successful because of the format, single race, few classes and it is held the same time each year at the same place. Becomes a tradition all most.

Koth style with a easier faster course... period...
obstacles become hard when ur tryin to go fast....

i think a series would work if it was cheap, maybe only have to compete in 4 of the 7 parks to qualify for the championship or something?

and were talking about these being spread out over an entire year and all within a 3 to 5 hour drive for most people

if entry is cheap and you dont have to yard sale your **** just to compete then i think there would be intrest

lets get some rules together, an idea of what everyone wants and then present it and check the interest.. no interest= no race

heck we talked the HPO race up a good bit and no one showed up??? so what needs to happen??

seemed like the dirt style races like tuff truck do better than the rock races :fish:

im tellin ya.. single event, cheap entry... lets say $40 or $50 50,% 30% 20% payout
fast course, nothing impossible... same place every year....

im planning on hosting a small grassroots type comp at gooseneck this summer.. 3 easy courses.. combine times on all 3.. fastest wins,,
optional Bonus 4th course (hosepipe) not a timed deal... Its an if you make it, you can replace slowest of 3 with fastest.. fastest counts twice...

Gooseneck Tri-Climb Be on the lookout....

I would actually do the rock rally if they do plan to have it this year again.

Memorial Day Weekend , Choccolocco Mtn , BACKSIDE 1 , $20-50 entry fee winner take all
Bring what you got and hope you bring enough ! no classes, 3 runs or attempts

Well.... it is gone for good... too bad cause i woulda won it this year :****:
I dont see it coming back, RCRC might think otherwise, but from the horses mouth... its doubtfull :'(

There is nothing cheap about 4 trips that are 3-5 hours each way, you are talking several hundred in fuel for each trip. That is why you will have no interest in any sort of series. Times are tough for race series, just look at XRRA and WERock they are down just about every year from the previous and fuel is almost $3/gallon which really hurts.

KOTH was mostly successful because of the type of rigs they drew. Guys like Bryan, Timmy, Darryl, etc. would always come to the comp and put on a show. When have you ever seen those guys at a comp besides KOTH? KOTH was the same weekend every year, same location and same style of racing; so they had good turnout and participation.
