LBZ Duramax ??

Yep I've been running the EGR blocker plate and fingerstick from Kennedy for the past 100K. The fingerstick is a simple wiring loom that bypasses the CEL once the EGR is blocked. No need for an EGR delete if you have these installed.

Here's 2 comparison pics. 1 shows the buildup that occurs if you don't block the EGR (after 113K miles) The other was posted by a guy who pulled his plate to inspect it after 107K miles. Totally clean.

Re: Re: LBZ Duramax ??

All you need is a blocker plate and either a "finger stick" or turn off the egr with custom tuning software.

I've hand a blocker plate and custom tuning with efilive on mine for almost 200k now.

Holy ****. That's crazy. I have 212k on mine, i had no clue about this, anyone have a link or more info on this?? **** I don't even know what to search for. But that is night and day right there. I plan on running the truck till it's dead so any suggestions what to do to keep it running the longest would be awesome... What happens when it closes up from that ****?

Um, just search "duramax egr block off" or "duramax finger stick" (or pretty much any other combination of words in this thread) should get you plenty of results

Just put a blocker plate in and get EFI live programming. Adrinaline truck performance is the best. You can do 5 custom tunes. For more info go to
Duramax forum. Com They have a thread on there about EFI live

X2.

Me and a buddy went in and split an EFILive programming setup and tunes from Adrenaline, both our trucks have the DSP5 setup (the ONLY way to go IMO, and ATP's Tow Tune w/ turbo brake is badass for heavy loads. Tons of torque down low rpm, and the the turbo braking is awesome). We also both have MBRP 4" turbo back exhausts, Trans Go Jr shift kits, and modded air boxes. oh, and Cognito steering braces.

Those few mods pretty much made it a much more badass truck

Awesome thanks. I have the diablo sport predator programmer, 4" exhaust, and a Violence (or somthing like that, been a while since i installed) air intake.. Those made a huge difference. Im gonna check this stuff out. If its not a arm and a leg jump on it. I have been worried about not messing tha motor up tha more miles i put on it. I have always had a lil problem if i stomp it, it feels like it kinda boggs down, like theres not enuf fuel or somthing going to it and its still a beast. If i could get rid of that it would be u godly fast. Im pretty sure we have the best years duramax so far. I wanna kick my own ass for not taking care of the inside better, the resale on a LBZ in good cond is dam insane!! But with a mexican and another helper in and out of truck in the summer that Aint gonna happen. Thanks for tha info. Looks like i got some reading to do.

Kennedy is really the only choice.
$55 for Plate and fingerstick combo

The Plate is a 10 minute install, finger stick took me a bit cause I didnt want to get the wrong wires.
If you already have efiLive and can easily have your program modified then you only need the blocker plate and can disable the EGR in efiLive.

If you are at it I'd suggest two things:
$99 Max flow left manifold
http://www.merchant-automotive.com/p-379-max-flow-left-hand-exhaust-manifold.aspx
This is a driverside exhaust manifold. Its a GM part from a Canadian app that does not have a major neckdown restriction in it to clear the steering shaft, which isnt needed.

$219 MBRP downpipe
http://www.merchant-automotive.com/p-3798-mbrp-down-pipe-high-temp-black-coated-fits-lly-lbz-lmm.aspx
When you compare it to your stocker its obvious the stock one is a highly restrictive piece.

I swear I had pictures of both the manifolds and the downpipes when I did mine, for a little over $300 its major piece of mine that you are keeping your EGT's down when pulling a trailer.
I couldnt believe how restrictive those two were.

I have a LLY with the block plate. It doesn't set a CEL, but if I scan it for codes it always has a EGR performance code but the CEL never comes on. So I've never had to deal with the fingerstick thing.
