well i just picked up an 07 "classic" duramax. :redneck: There is definately some kind of aftermarket tweak done to the programming, "99% sure". BUT there is no controller or anything obvious. what can i do to find out what power controller it has, had, or if it has a chip or has been flashed or what?

It's an LBZ, with the 6speed allison. It's a bad ass truck, hauls ass, but i want to know what programming it has, It's got so much power i almost think it needs a detune or selectable tuner instead. I don't want to kill the tranny.

Any help would be great:corn:

heya! I just picked up one of those as well =D

I'm looking into purchasing an EFI Live computer programmer so I can re-program my LBZ to run WVO.
http://www.efilive.com/

Most Dmax's running veggie are using something like this so WVO gets fully burned and doesn't like into the crankcase.

PS. I was going to post something about finding someone to go in with me to buy this thing. It lets you run two VINs, and at $749, it'd be nice to cut that price in half.

I don't think i want to run WVO. too much hassle. but i appreciate the offer. Is your truck super loud? my turbo sounds like it's whistling in the glove box. I can't tell what's been modified or if it even has been. But judging by the noise and power it has to have something. if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your truck, what options, and where did you buy it?

no burnt chip in those guys. And if it didn't come with the programmer then I would hope they'd bring it back to stock. Because holding onto it does nothing for the previous owner. It's vin locked. Have you ever driven a dmax before you owned this one?

Those tranny's are good for a little over 400. So I wouldn't worry much about it. You can throw it on the dyno for free at the powershop in Enumclaw on the 4th of next month. We can certainly tell ya then as to what it could have done to it.

i have driven 2 other duramax diesels before and they weren't like this. (LB7, and an LLY) I'm thinking maybe the person kept the programmer, and left it in a tuning mode. Where exactly is the powershop in enumclaw? and what's the occassion for free dyno runs? Sounds like i should bring it down and see what it's got.:D

umm, can't think of the street name. Instead of turning right into the Dodge dealership at the light, you hang a left, go through the stop sign, then the stop light, and It's the big blue barn style building on your left. It's their annual dyno day Oct 4th. So free dyno runs for the day. :cheer:

The LBZ has another 50HP compared to the LLY, and even more than the LB7. The LBZ 360HP, LLY is 310, and LB7 is 300HP.

Mine also has a nice turbo spin up, and a good bit of power. All stock. Its a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD XLT Crew Cab. It has all the options (except sunroof), and some 20" wheels with Nitto tires *bleh*. I picked it up for 37k and traded the Jeep for 15k. (I couldn't sell it on CL for that price)

the EFI Live programmer can be used for much more than just running WVO. Thats just what I'm planning to do. I'm looking to see if anyone is interested in a programmer for whatever need they want, and cut the cost of doing both.

it wont be hard to find the power shop on the 4th. just wait for a diesel truck to drive by and follow them or look for the black cloud of smoke coming fron the north side of 410 :)

or you can map it

i'll have to mark the date on my calendar, that sounds like fun.

dang i feel like i got a deal on mine then, i paid 24K and traded in my denali for 19.5K It's a 2007 chevy crew cab short bed 2500HD, 1LT no options really. cloth seats, but it came with 20's and 33" toyos. line x bed, fully tinted, kenwood cd player, and what i think is a power adder.

get thier real early if you want to run on the dyno. they have a big turnout with lots of people running. I went last year and watched for a few hours and I think they got through about 10-12 people per hour.

yah that sounds about the right price for an 1LT. With the leather, captians chairs, heated, blah blah blah, they all add up. And the woman gets to drive it every day =P (hence why it has the options).
How do those Toyo's work for ya? I'm thinking of upgrading the Nitto's, I want something with a bit more traction and load rating.

ill be there. the durtymax is gonna go limp this year:redneck:

the Toyo's are nice. I'm about to buy another set(33-12.5-20), these ones are a little low on life. In my sierra denali i had all the amentaties, factory dvd, wood grain, 2tone leather, heated memory seats, bose, cd changer, console, sunroof, the whole 9 yards, however i'm more than satisfied with a duramax and no options:D

As for the dyno if i get on great, if not i'll just see what everyone else has got, it'd be fun just to attend from the way it sounds.
