Say, When you put LED tail lights on your rigs, either trail or road, what do you have to do 'special' to them to make them work correctly?

The true question is, when you use your turn signals, if they blink faster than normal, how do you fix this? I know that when regular bulbs blink faster, like when you have a trailer hooked up, it means you need a different blinker fuse to slow it down. Is this the same with changing out regular for LED?

Yes a different flasher will fix that problem but I would try it before I put in a new flasher, because I put in led taillights and my stock flashers still blink slow.

Does it matter about the age of the rig? What I mean is, I'm thinking about it for my 2006 Dakota. I know when I had older autos, the blinker was an issue.

I liked when they flashed faster because a bulb was out. Now they don't even blink when a bulb is out... But that's another story...

So what you're saying is try them before I worry?

LED's Take far less power so you need to add resistance to the circuit and it will operate correctly.....ohms law will help you figuar out what resister you will need.

:awesomework:

On most older rigs you can use an EL-12 from napa (electric rather than thermal blinker module) on an '06 dakota it should have an electronic module already but if it still blinks fast put a set of resistors inline with the blinker and it'll take care of the issue.

1. Shouldn't an '06 Dakota have an electronic flasher rather than an old bimetal flasher? Didn't they quit putting those in new cars a couple decades ago?

2. You're not just getting some generic 4" round LED lights. They're going to be a custom aftermarket setup to fit that truck. They should have the appropriate resistor (assuming one is needed) integrated into the assembly. If they can't figure out how to do that for a custom-fit product, I would not buy anything from that company. Ever.

Yeah, the ones I'm looking at will fit in the same place mine are right now. It'll help bring more 'black' to my rig while still allowing enought light out to be seen for miles, instead of feet. A black truck with these huge red tail lights are just, well.... LAME!

Now all I need are some blacked out 17" Wheels and I'll be almost completely in the dark...

The tail lights will work like stock No worries:awesomework:

Just paint or powder coat your rims. Lots cheaper and looks good. That what I did to mine and I love it. Just touch them up once in a while and like new:awesomework:

And to think I have a nephew that works at a place that does that... mmmm The questions his way will be a going!

I thought I could paint them. Just finding a place that is open when I'm in town is a challange...

Wheels are going to be a challenge. Looks like they are chromed aluminum. Makes it a little more difficult to make paint stick. Still, the place says they can do it for about $85 a wheel, which beats the $225 per aftermarket wheel.

Oh, the LED lights should be here Thursday! :cheer:

SWMBO says I can't open the box until Friday... :booo:

Led lights

Led tail lights will work just like regular lights , the turn signals are the problem, Led's use so little amp's they flash slow , just go an Autozone or somewhere and get the cheapest electric flasher they have, then they will work fine.
