Length of Links

I try not to make the lower links over 36" and that is just material not counting the heims. Uppers always 70 percent of lowers. And we've been using 7075 2 1/4" lowers and 2" 6061 uppers, seems to work good. Longer links have a tendency to bend

BAM.....Elliott said what I would have said if I would have said it myself to you ;D

Kevin - you know damn well just what this thing needs is somebig ole grave digger links. :driving:

My uppers and lowers are the same length and they work awesome. :****:

I've on several occasions made my uppers 1" longer than lowers and it works perfect. It also makes the pinion not nose dive on droop causing bad Dshaft angles.
If you make a link crossmember and put all your links on it

Your chassis ends are about in the same place. Generally on your axle, you lowers will be in front of the tube and your uppers will be on top of the third, landing them center of tube. I don't get any hop out of them, maybe that's just me.

yeah, the 70% of the lowers is a general rule..... but seperation and location have more affect than anything... when you go riding this weekend, or any weekend look at the buggys that work and study their suspension... dont just go by what looks good on paper or what RobbyBobby says you need

I set my rear 4 link up with straight lowers and triangulated uppers.

Seperation specs are 4.5" apart at the frame and 8" apart on the axle.

Works great, hooks up,flexes great, does not steer itself or pinion dive up or down.

BUT........that is on MY RIG..........just tack all youre junk together first & cycle it thru bout 900 times before final welds ;D

OH......and I also have the exact 70 / 30 split on the lengths of the links.

Guys I am trying to figure out about how long to make some rear links. if you dont mind tell me the length of your links, material they are made of, and if they are bent.

Thanks
Check out the links to tech articals at the top of this thread :dblthumb:

Your instant center is one of the biggest factors also.Makes them either bite or spin.
