Well I took my truck in to get a new windshield and they couldn't do it because the cage is too close, and they said they have to hit them in  and it would bust the new one. So a local place quoted me $106 for a piece of lexan cut if I bring a template of the windshield. Is this a good idea, I know some have used it, I know it scratches, but this way it will be easily removed, and save more than half what a windshield cost, does that stuff bend easy?

a pair of goggles and your only out 20-30 bucks :flipoff1:

That was my original planer laughing1 but I have a bunch of wiring and electronics, right in the middle and dont wanna chance getting it wet.

I used a piece of "Speed Glass" (Lexan with a scratch resistant coating). Not sure how well it will work yet, but I am hoping it holds up for awhile. It ran me about $200.

And you can cut speedglass or lexan yourself. I use a sawzall with a fine metal blade, but a scroll saw/jigsaw will work fine as well. To dial in a line I use a 4.5" grinder with a flapdisk on it, and just sand it away.

But yes lexan not only scratvhes it attracts dirt. And forget using it after oil or anything petroleum has been on it, like ATF or fuel.

Thats pretty cool for the price. I am still trying to find a big enough piece of cardboard for a template, i tried poster board but got pissed and crumpled it up. Its too thin. If someone made a lexan or speedglass drop in for a chevy I would gladly buy it, but they dont that I know of.

I had a Lexan windshield in my jeep before tear down. It did'nt take much to scratch it but if your careful, like not rubbing it when mud is on it, it will last a little while. On the other hand Bibby is using Marguard on his buggy. It's like lexan but not supposed to scratch as easy. :dunno:

Thanks daniel. I will find out more about that, the place I am gettig it cut has all kinds of crazy plastics and glass stuff. Honestly I think I would rather have glass, put lexan is cheaper and safer I guess. I think I will just have to rig some tearoffs.

I had Lexan installed on the roof of my buggy 3 years ago and it is completley scratched up. I had Speed glass installed for the windshield at the same time and it is damn near perfect and i have wiped it clean of mud and rocks that have hit it. Speed glass is the way to go.

Where are yall getting speedglass from? locally or on the interweb?

Quit bein a *****. You don't need a windshield. Your not gonna wheel it any way. Maybe mall Crawl like Neal
