With my project coming up I've been looking to buy my link ends, but every time I make a decesion and decide to what I want I can't seem to pull the trigger, there's so many joints out there I'm having a hard time choosing.

I think i want something rebuildable, seems the price is higher but well worth it when it comes time to rebuild them.

I don't think I need something totally overkill like a 3", but I want something solid as I am usually pretty relaxed and tame but from time to time I can get a little happy on the go-pedal.

I'll be running 1-tons and 42's under a cage/back-halfed mini-truck (nissan).

I plan to run square tube lowers, and as of now it will be inverted 4-link front and rear. But the front may end up as a 3-link with a panhard once things start to take form.

I'd really like to hear what you are running, I don't care to hear from those who have no experience with them (I could read Pirate for that...).

One thing I have figured out when linking the front of my pile is Johnny Joints are friggen big. Depending how your rig is setup you may have trouble mounting them exactly where you want. I ended up having to use a smaller heim on my upper 3rd link. Just something to keep in mind.

I have evolution joints on the axles and forged jonny joints from currie on the chassis end. The evo's preload ring tends to loosen up over time and the jonnys took 2 years to wear out the bushing material. They are all 1 1/4 thread. For the price the forged jonnys are a great deal, Just dont forget that they dont include the jamb nut in the total cost.

thanks guys.

Bunk I apprecaitte the info, especially the time it took to wear them out. I could be comfortable with that. 2 years of your abuse seems fair.

How much is replacement parts for j joints? I just ordered 40 FK cmx's and there
Teflon lined and static load of 21000 lbs 3/4 on 5/8 for $15ea its rally car
Subaru stuff not quite enough but most the next step up should be more than
enough, big himes look bitchin but that's about it. you can get 3/4 3 peace
himes rated at 42000 load at around 20 to 40 bucks a pop might not be that
bad to just replace them a few years down the road. and I got my plated jam
nuts for 30 cents just shop around ant try and go as direct to the manufacture
as you can. Good luck

I think new jj bushings are like 18 bucks or something.

And my big bitchen heims broke a machine before it hit 120,000. That promotes a driving style that i enjoy.

which Evo hiems are you running? They had 4 sizes listed on their site and . Any idea? Both their medium and large have the same 1-1/4 thread shank...

I would be happy to get rid of my damn clunky ass rod ends

ok please break this down for me, I don't know what you are currently running?

and for a link newbe...are rod ends the same as hiems?

5/8" x3/4" hiems They are strong and I have bent a couple and work fine as long as you don't mind the noise. When I redo the rig its getting JJ's

One thing that really bums me about my rig, the damn noise

Crash, you thinkl your's make noise? you heard mine with the farm equipemnt heims.... could hear me a mile away. scary part was when they stopped clanking, somehitngs broke.
i changes all my kinks over to JJ (thanks Gary) and love them....
2.5" lowers and 2" uppers

so 5/8 x 5/8 = BAD
but
5/8 x 3/4 = OK?

Just checking, cause I have a set of Robin's old upper links with 5/8 x 3/4's that I might use for now.... till I upgrade.

5/8 x 3/4 work, only the hardest of core wear them out quick, I remember crash pimping how much he loved his less than a year ago, so I'd say what? 3 year's of good use? They do become loose though over time, most of our car's are running 5/8 x 3/4, but as of late we have started using 3/4 thru bolt x 7/8 shank, considerably larger heim, a few guy's have a fair amount of time on them, and when jason got home from KOH that was the first thing I checked and they are still tight as hell ( link's are not easy to twist.....yet)

I went with the Midwest Controls Hiems from Ballistic...

7/8" shank 3/4" through bolt $12.99 each for my lowers. only shitty part they only had right hand threads... oh well. I bought a few spare and still saved alot of $.

I really like the JJ forged shanked and the new ballistic forged joints. I've used the JJ's on various rigs with good success and long life.

If you have the space and the $ I'd run them.
