Building a new buggy was wondering if short links with a long bottom is better or long links with a short bottom better would like some opinions on that Thanks

Thy are suppose to be within a certain percentage of each other.. not sure the number though.. I Know Paul told me a figure one time..

is the bottom your refferring to the belly?

i shot for my uppers to be around 70% of the length of the lowers..i was told 60-70% would be fine

you dont want to get your lowers too long or you will bend them bitches every trip out....unless you do the Payne style high clearance links thumb.gif :eat:

one ton crawler is correct your upper links will usually be 60 to 70 percent of your lower links but i have to say mine on my rig is probably more like 80 percent i haven't had no problems with mine binding or bending but i would shoot for 70 percent if any way possible all depending on what type of four link your building!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good luck on the links!!!!!!

Plenty of people do equal length lowers and uppers and have no trouble at all.

run the numbers and so what works best for your application

CHEAP way of trying a set up is get a piece of ply wood and 3 boards . Take two of the boards and screw them to the ply wood so that they are loose enough to move just a little longer than your 4 links bars are going to be, and take the third and screw it on top of the other two at the other end at the angle you want your pinion to stay , work it and move your screws on the front forward or backward till you get your pinion to stay at the angle you want . And this will help you get your bars pretty close on length .. Its just my Farm boy way of doing it .. Never had any problems doing it like this .

I don't think this dude's even paying attention to this thread. And we don't even know what he's asking. Is he asking about bottom vs top link lengths or belly plate vs link lengths? And either way, I hope this isn't the only thing he is considering when building a link setup.

What I was talking about was the belly of the buggy some people run a shorter belly with longer top and bottom links and a one piece drive shaft and you see alot of other buggys that have a longer belly with shorter links and a two piece drive shaft was wondering which you think would work best thank you for the replies.
